Alperen Sengun Injury Report: Massive Update on Turkish Star After Being Wheeled Out in Scary Turn of Events

The Houston Rockets suffered a devastating blow during last night’s game against the Sacramento Kings. Their star Center, Alperen Sengun, suffered a brutal injury in the closing seconds of the encounter. Sengun landed awkwardly on his right ankle after trying to block a layup attempt from Domantas Sabonis. The Rockets Center immediately clutched his knee, writhing in pain, and had to be carried off the court in a wheelchair.
A day after Sengun’s horrific injury, NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski has given a massive update on the Turkish star’s health. Fortunately, Sengun has reportedly avoided a major injury on his lower right leg. He has been diagnosed with a severely sprained ankle and a bruised right knee. Sengun is expected to miss some time to recover from the injury, and there is still no timeline for his return. However, the Rockets will be happy to know that Sengun’s injury is not as serious as it looked.

Sengun has been a breakout star for the Rockets this season. He has taken a giant leap from last season and is having the best year of his young career. The 21-year-old is averaging 21.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 5 assists. He has led the Rockets to a 29-35 record, significantly better than last season’s 22-60 record. Even in last night’s game, Sengun helped the Rockets beat the Kings before he got injured. He scored 14 points and 6 rebounds and led the Rockets to a 112-104 victory.
What’s next for the Houston Rockets?
It looks like Alperen Sengun is going to miss significant time to recover from his ankle and knee injury. That means the Rockets will have to play through the majority of the final stretch of the regular season without their star Center. The Rockets are currently the 11th seed in the Western Conference and are 4 wins behind the 10th-seeded Golden State Warriors. With only 18 games remaining in the regular season, the Rockets are unlikely to qualify for the play-in tournament to fight for a spot in the playoffs. They might have to start looking for ways to further improve their roster for next season.

Their front office needs to determine the missing pieces and make relevant moves during the off-season so that they can finally become a threat in the Western Conference.
