The Golden State Warriors‘ situation is worsening with every match they play. After suffering a 129-118 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, the Warriors have now slipped down to the twelfth rank in the Western Conference and have won just three matches out of their last ten. Not only are the Dubs able to find their rhythm, but their players’ performances are also deteriorating. Their star forward Andrew Wiggins has been having a bad season and only put up seven points and four rebounds in the thirty-two minutes he played against the Cream City.

Even the 33-year-old guard Klay Thompson is not looking his usual self this season and is unable to aid his Splash Brother Stephen Curry the way he used to due to which there are rumors about his trade floating in the league. So, in the post-match interview, instead of blaming his teammates, he spoke about the positive side of playing in the NBA.

Klay Thompson is grateful to do what he loves

After suffering a loss against the Milwaukee Bucks, Klay Thompson was asked about his thoughts on the game, to which he said that he knows playing in the NBA is a special opportunity and doing what he loves every day is a gift in itself. So he is humbled by that fact however he adds by speaking about the loss and says, “We should not pout or doubt ourselves when things don’t go our way and realize that there is such a short window to be an NBA player that you gotta enjoy these moments with your brothers and just try and be great every night. It’s a tall task but that’s what’s required if you wanna do something special.”

The 5x All-Star shows us that he is grateful to be playing in the league. However, earlier Thompson was doing that “something special” for his team whereas this season he has been very inconsistent. He has been averaging 17.5 points and 2.3 assists per game, which is very low for a player of his caliber. So, looking at Thompson’s performance declining, there are rumors that the 4x NBA Champion might get traded away from the Dubs after 13 years of service.

Thompson rejected his contract extension last summer

Last summer, Klay Thompson was offered a $48 million deal for two years but did not accept it. Even though he is in his final year of a five-year, $189.9 million deal, he rejected the extension offer because it would’ve been a huge salary reduction for him. But as of now his contract is expiring and his performance is also declining due to which he may be traded before the deadline.

However, according to ESPN’s Zach Lowe, he believes that the Warriors will keep Thompson because he is a respected person in the Bay Area. The 33-year-old guard had a very slow start this season. However, he is improving his performance to prove that he deserves a contract extension. But according to the trade rumors, except Stephen Curry, every other player from the Dubs is up for grabs as they might be looking to rebuild their entire squad. So, what do you think, should Klay Thompson be traded away or given a contract extension? Let us know in the comments below.
