Anthony Davis’ time in Dallas has been defined by stop-start momentum and mounting injury concerns, with availability again becoming a question. While Luka Doncic has grown into a franchise pillar for the LA Lakers a year after the split, Davis is still searching for rhythm with the Dallas Mavericks. That uncertainty has league executives circling and Dallas increasingly open to moving on before the deadline.

NBA Insider Chris Haynes made a big revelation on Thursday when he reported on his live show on SiriusXM about Anthony Davis‘ trade. He expects the 32-year-old to be traded by the Mavericks before this trade deadline.
While many people in and around the NBA fraternity were expecting such news, Haynes’ seal of approval puts weight behind the claim. If this stands, then Davis will be on his way out within a year after they decided to flip Luka Doncic for the former Lakers star, a move planned by the ex-Mavs GM Nico Harrison, who felt they needed defense to win titles.

It has been a rocky ride for Davis since moving to Dallas. He has hardly had any luck with injuries in recent months. AD has suffered a horde of muscle injuries this season, including a right adductor soreness and a groin strain. He has not played more than five consecutive games for the Mavericks since joining them.
The Mavs star has played only 16 of 34 games this season, hampering the Dallas calculation. With Kyrie Irving out for long, the responsibility to make the Mavs a championship contender depended heavily on the Rookie star and Anthony Davis but that isn’t clicking with the Mavs sitting 12-22.

And With his recent groin strain, even NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley urged the Mavs to flip Anthony Davis. When asked if he would trade AD, Barkley told on NBA on ESPN, “I think I might move on . . . If I was running the team, I’d say, ‘You know what? It’s Cooper’s team now.’ ”

The Golden State Warriors and the Atlanta Hawks show interest in Anthony Davis
According to sources, the Atlanta Hawks and the Golden State Warriors have emerged as the top two destinations for Anthony Davis in this trade window. Although he is currently one of the most injured players, he is also a superstar when healthy. The All-Star is averaging 20.5 points, 10,9 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.6 blocks per game this season.
So there are surely upsides to this trade, and the Warriors could be extremely beneficial with AD’s skills in their roster. Considering they are a team that struggles to protect the rim and rebound the ball, AD would immediately solve such issues. His best always comes out when he is paired with shotmakers, which the Dubs have in plenty.

Draymond or Jimmy Butler may get traded, or else a package with Jonathan Kuminga could be explored, but there are doubts if the Mavs would accept such an offer.

Meanwhile, the Hawks are struggling this season as they need a big man who can play defense, and Davis fits that bill perfectly. The Hawks are 17th in the NBA defensive ratings, and if AD joins, they would be inside the top 10.
The Hawks could include 2025 first-round pick Asa Newell in a trade for Anthony Davis.
Atlanta can match salaries with the Mavericks by including Kristaps Porzingis, Luke Kennard and Newell.

Even Hawks star Trae Young could also get traded. But if they don’t find a viable offer, they may look to pair him with AD to give a different dimension to the Hawks’ roster.
