“I wasn’t a basketball guy. The only person I knew was Kevin Durant. That was it.” Well, Anthony Edwards’ fandom for KD is no secret as he has publicly deemed The Slim Reaper his “favorite player of all time.” So, it must have been nothing short of a dream for Ant-Man when he joined forces with his idol during the Paris Olympics. But as it turns out, it was not Kevin Durant but LeBron James and Stephen Curry who the Minnesota young gun learned the most from during his memorable Gold medal pursuit.
When asked what the hooper picked up from sharing the court with the 3 legends while representing Team USA, he said, “I think the best thing that I learned was from Steph. Like I took Bron like pregame routine, but Steph just playing without the ball.” Yes, as great as Curry is as a primary ball handler, he becomes a whole different animal with his ability to constantly move without the ball and get open for easy shots.
Sure enough, the Warriors had been using that movement with Steph and Klay for years and it delivered them 4 championships. Ant-Man claimed that he has already begun adding that skill to his arsenal, “So, like the last few days we’ve been playing 5 on 5, I just be cutting, getting out the way and I get easy shots. So, I think I learned the most from Steph.”

Meanwhile, Anthony Edwards also revealed learning from LeBron James’ work ethic as he marveled at the veteran’s pregame routine, during his Media Day interview. Surprisingly, though, the Wolves star forgot to mention any takeaways from his time with Kevin Durant and quickly moved on to the next question. However, he has acknowledged the importance of having veteran leaders like KD, Bron, and Steph in the past with a tribute post that he shared after winning the Gold medal, “Keep some old heads around you.”
But Ant-Man, forgetting his favorite player, does raise some eyebrows.
When Anthony Edwards’ lie about Kevin Durant was exposed by his siblings!
Even before Ant and KD faced off in the playoffs earlier this year, the Wolves star had been very public about his admiration for the veteran. However, his claim of knowing only Kevin Durant when he was a kid was exposed by his siblings in a recent interview. During Sonya Curry’s podcast, Anthony’s siblings Antoine and Antoinette revealed who his favorite player was growing up. “Was it LeBron?”
“Yeah, he was a LeBron fan,” both his brother and sister quickly came to a consensus, shockingly revealing that it was ‘The Chosen One’ who Ant-Man was fond of. But he’s frequently given the nod to KD in all his interviews and even developed a bromance with the Suns star in the process.

Have an interesting take?
Whoever Anthony Edwards’ favorite player was growing up, he was fortunate enough to share the podium with 3 of the biggest legends of this era and he even expressed his gratitude in a recent interview: “Me just being in the middle of them, I think that was the greatest time of my life. My brother took a picture of that we like, that’s the dopest picture we gonna have.”
While the Timberwolves leader didn’t mention KD in his takeaway notes from the historic Paris Olympic campaign, the hooper would’ve surely picked up a thing or two from his idol, as there was even a video which recently went viral of Kevin Durant giving shooting tips to the youngster during practice. And we might see the results of it in Ant-Man’s performance this season!
