The biggest takeaway from having a whole spectrum of athletes from different sports is you never know what crossover you might get. And with 592 of them representing the USA and traveling together, we got the most unexpected one thanks to Stephen Curry and Anthony Edwards. The Dubs guard was in the mood to be assisting his fellow athletes in the Paris Olympics opening ceremony. His pal Ant-Man had the privilege of Chef Curry, who set the youngster up for a ping-pong game with Team USA reps!

In a social media video posted by Team USA, Steph is seen instigating a ping-pong game between Ant-Man and Team USA’s roster. The Warrior challenged Anthony Edwards to score at least 1 point against the pros, after stating he’d get swept 21-0! Anthony, in the video, seems to have been caught off-guard by the request, saying, “I don’t believe it, I am not having it.” Hours later, after the Hoopers’ practice on Saturday, the youngster expressed his surprising reaction to the Splash Brother holding him in such regard.

In an interview with EssentiallySports representative Grant Afseth, Anthony Edwards said, “It was pretty impressive cuz Steph don’t think I can score not one point and I’m highly disappointed in him, the way he thinks about me because I definitely score one.”

The match is yet to happen and probably we’ll get it sometime during the Olympics. “I mean, he’s supposed to set it up. He’s the coach for it,” Anthony Edwards concluded. For now, the focus is only and strictly on basketball. Keeping the ping-pong table aside, Team USA has some thinking to do as Joel Embiid is struck down ill and did not practice on Saturday.

His progress will be monitored and so will be of Kevin Durant who has yet to take the court for a competitive minute since the Phoneix Suns’ playoff exit in April. On top of that, the Slim Reaper missed all of the Team USA exhibition games leading to the Olympics. So with a tough Serbia challenge on the horizon, Anthony Edwards and Co. have more things to worry about.

Anthony Edwards and Team USA gearing up for the Serbia game

When Team USA faced Serbia in the UAE, it was a one-sided affair. The men in blue dismantled Serbia by 105-79 with Joel Embiid playing a key role in neutralizing Nikola Jokic. Now with Embiid looking doubtful, Steve Kerr‘s planning going into Game 1 is most probably out of the window. “I’m confident we’ll have everybody ready tomorrow,” Kerr said after the practice. Despite his expectations, The Process hasn’t practiced on the first game’s eve. On the other hand, KD is quoted as a probable for the game and the No. 7 was filmed dunking hard during scrimmage.

And what about Team USA’s “No. 1 option”? Steve Kerr would potentially keep using Anthony Edwards from the bench, as part of his rotations. During their previous meeting, Ant-Man came off the bench to deliver an explosive flurry of 16 points in 16 minutes. The same will likely continue with Jrue Holiday starting. Bam Adebayo and AD were also pivotal pieces of the team’s defensive set-up in that game. So even if Joel Embiid misses out, Team USA will have cover. So how exactly will Team USA cope? We’ll find out soon.
