Giannis Antetokounmpo gave an inspiring speech after getting eliminated in the first round of the playoffs last season. The Milwaukee Bucks had entered the 2023 playoffs as the Number 1 seed. They faced the 8th-seeded Miami Heat in the first round of the Eastern Conference. Giannis got injured 10 minutes into Game 1 and missed the next two games. Jimmy Butler and Co. saw their opening and eliminated the franchise in 5 games. Giannis however refused to call the Bucks’ 2022-23 season a “Failure”.

Five months after their embarrassing exit, the star player has put the Bucks on notice after threatening to leave it. The Greek Freak wants bucks stop at the Milwaukee Bucks. However, a veteran NBA insider has now called Giannis out for his contradictory statements.

In the latest episode of The Lowe Post Podcast, the host Zach Lowe revisited the argument from last season, deeming the Bucks season a “Failure”. After getting humiliated by the Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs, The Greek Freak got upset at a journalist in the post-game press conference for asking him if the season was a failure. Frustrated by the question, Giannis gave a heartfelt speech about failure in sports, “It’s not failure, it’s steps to success.” The 2-time MVP brought up Michael Jordan, asking the reporter if the 9 seasons MJ did not win the Championship were a failure. “There is no failure in sports,” Giannis added.

Now that the 2-time MVP is considering switching teams to win another championship, it is evident that “winning” matters a lot to him. So, Zach Lowe pointed out the contradiction in Giannis’ statements, “Can we just call it what it was? It was a failure.” While fans were drooling over Giannis’ emotional speech, they forgot the fact that he just got humiliated by an 8th-seeded team. “Why are we soft-pedaling around this? You guys lost in horrible fashion in the first round,” Lowe said.

Considering Giannis’ only goal is to win another championship, losing in the first round to the lowest seed is definitely a “Failed” season.
