Since Bronny James entered his name in the 2024 NBA draft last week, Draymond Green has turned into one of his biggest supporters. Draymond shares a good friendship with LeBron James despite their historic on-court rivalry. And he wants to see LeBron’s son succeed in the NBA. While many have criticized Bronny’s decision to enter the draft, DrayMagic believes the USC star could be a savior for Adam Silver in this underwhelming draft class.

In the latest episode of The Draymond Green Show, he revealed why entering the 2024 NBA draft was a smart decision by Bronny James. “This NBA draft will probably go down as one of the worst in history from a top talent standpoint.” According to Draymond, this year’s draft class lacks the talent and star power from previous years. It is still uncertain which player will be the Number 1 pick. He claimed the last time there was no consensus on the first pick, Anthony Bennett got drafted Number 1. And everyone knows how that turned out.

Draymond believes Bronny can thrive in this year’s talent pool and become a successful NBA player. “Bronny 100% would be a successful player in the NBA.” According to Draymond, Bronny will do fine in the NBA because he has a great work ethic. That is evident from the improvement in Bronny’s game throughout High School. He elevated his game, body, and athleticism as a teenager and will continue to do so once he enters the league.

Draymond claimed, “At worst, he’s a 3 and D guy.” Even if Bronny does not become a star, he could be a valuable asset because of his defensive tenacity and shooting ability, controlling the tempo of a game on the defensive end.

Is the 2024 NBA draft class actually underwhelming?

The NBA is still on a high from last year’s historic draft class. The 2023 NBA draft brought generational talents like Victor Wembanyama and Brandon Miller to the league, who could become the future faces of the NBA. So, it is understandable why the 2024 draft class seems underwhelming because of the high expectations.

But will the 2024 NBA draft really be the worst in NBA history?

According to the ESPN mock draft, another French sensation, Zaccharie Risacher, is projected to go Number 1 in this year’s draft. Risacher has been playing in the EuroLeague since 2021 and turned into a superstar at a very young age. He won the 2023 French National Cup and was even named the 2024 EuroCup Rising Star. Even though Risacher is no Victor Wembanyama, the 6’8 Forward could be a future NBA star.

Other top prospects this year include UConn’s Donovan Clingan, Purdue’s Zach Edey, Kentucky’s Rob Dillingham, and Perth’s Alex Starr. Clingan and Dillingham had solid performances in this year’s NCAA tournament. Zach Edey also upped his draft value after posting a 37-10 stat line in the NCAA Championship game against UConn.

According to the mock draft, Edey is projected to be the 13th pick this year. Although this year’s talent pool is not star-studded, their credibility cannot be judged until they start playing in the NBA. Like Bronny James, other prospects will also learn and elevate their game once they compete against the best players in the world.
