Kevin Durant is no stranger to insults and controversies. And when he was asked tonight about the comments he had made following Draymond Green’s suspension, KD assured that he meant no “ill-will”. Not to him or his family. After the final blow of hitting the Suns’ Jusuf Nurkic, Durant echoed the sentiments of Dray needing help.

Explaining his comments of then, the ‘Slim Reaper’ says, “I didn’t mean no ill will about what I said. I know some people look at me as this malicious snake. Passive aggressive. I know how people feel about me sometimes.” 

The “malicious snake” comment he refers to here happened when Durant moved to the Warriors. He was hailed as a snake then because he joined them in the off-season just after they had defeated his OKC in the Western Conference Finals in the 2016-17 playoffs.

While Durant said he hoped Green gets the help he needs, KD also said that he knows Draymond. And the player we see on the court is not him. The 2x NBA champion isn’t alone in this assessment. His friends and colleagues of 12 years, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, have said the same.

Steph and the entire Warriors family reiterated that they would provide any and every assistance he would need. Seeing that Dray will soon be taking the floor, we can assume that the time away did do its trick. On a different note, we all know that Kevin Durant is not one to stay quiet when people go hurling insults at him. It was no different during the controversial OKC-GSW move.

In typical KD fashion, he got back at his haters with his signature Nike sneakers that had a snake image on the tongue. Interestingly, LeBron James had also mentioned this as a passing reference in 2018. The context was how the narrative differs when a player is traded and when he decides to leave.

The situation involved another player – Blake Griffin. 2018 saw the Clippers trade him to Detroit not too soon after he was hailed as a Clipper for life. The next day after the trade was made, James said, “When a player gets traded, [the front office] was doing what was best for the franchise. But when a player decides to leave, he’s not loyal, he’s a snake, he’s not committed. That’s the narrative of how it goes. I know that firsthand.”

We all know what the King means by that. The infamous ‘Decision’. His move from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Miami Heat had received much hate. And the rest of the story is, well, history. So, yes, LeBron does know what he is talking about. Anyway, the Dubs will soon get their third arm back. Whether that will be a relief or burden to the already burdened Warriors is very much a wait-and-see scenario.
