Good news is coming out of the Boston Celtics, especially for one person in particular. After the exit of his “Brother 4L”, Robert Williams III, Jayson Tatum finally has something to smile about. Teammate and Celtics point guard, Payton Pritchard has just agreed to a four-year extension. This new pact comes with a sweet deal of $30 million, with $7.5 million per season.
He joined the Celtics as the 26th pick of the 2020 NBA draft and had previously expressed his desire for trade. With his change of mind, Pritchard is part of the long-term future of the team. And it seems like there’s someone extremely excited about him. And no, it’s not Pritchard.

Looking forward to the new season
The upcoming season will be an uphill task for both Pritchard and the Celtics. In the previous season, the point guard had played a career-low 13.4 minutes per game while shooting just 36.4 percent from beyond the arc. He played much better as a rookie in the 2020-21 season where he shot 41.1 percent on 19.2 minutes per game.

With the boost of the new deal, Pritchard has to prove his money’s worth to the team. Celtic’s dream of the championship last season ended on a sour note. The team lost to Miami Heat in Game 7 of the NBA Playoffs in the Eastern Conference Finals. With a lot of poor play and the injuries of Tatum, the team must put up better gameplay if they hope to reverse their bad luck. The team has added new talent to the line-up with Jrue Holiday and Jason Walsh joining in, let’s hope that this season is better than the last. What do you think of the Celtic’s chances this season?
