The Detroit Pistons are now the record holders for the longest losing streak in NBA history. They lost their 28th straight game of the season after a thrilling encounter with the Boston Celtics. Detroit shares the record with the Philadelphia 76ers, who had a 28-game losing streak from the end of the 2014-15 season to the beginning of the 2015-16 season. But Cade Cunningham and Co. gave everything they had to keep their name out of the history books.

They forced overtime in a thrilling finish to the fourth quarter. The Pistons’ effort vs the top-seeded team in the East even garnered appreciation from the NBA World.

The Boston Celtics vs. Detroit Pistons game was a nail-biter from start to finish. With the game tied at 106-106 in the fourth quarter, Cade Cunningham got called for a goal tend after blocking Jayson Tatum’s layup. The Pistons went to the other end with a chance to tie or win the game. Cunningham bricked the potential game-winning three-pointer, but Bojan Bogdanovic grabbed the rebound and shot a layup to send the game to overtime. Fans were thrilled to witness the wild finish to the game and took to social media to appreciate the Pistons’ vigor. One fan wrote, “This game is pure cinema.”

The NBA world followed suit. Some fans called it the most entertaining game of the season.

One fan claimed that he had never been this invested in a Pistons game.

After witnessing the Pistons’ effort against Boston, fans guaranteed they would snap their losing streak in the next game against the Toronto Raptors.

The Pistons will face the Raptors next, in hopes of avoiding a 29 game losing streak, something that no professional American sporting team has achieved since 1942-1945, when the Chicago Cardinals lost 29 in a row.

Cade Cunningham and the Pistons nearly pull off upset of the season

Few fans expected the last-seeded Detroit Pistons to win against the top-seeded Boston Celtics ahead of tonight’s game. But the Pistons nearly pulled off the biggest upset of the season by taking the game to overtime. Cade Cunningham continued his incredible form despite his team’s abysmal run and finished the game with 31 points, 9 assists, and 6 rebounds. His teammates, Bojan Bogdanović, Jalen Duren, Jaden Ivey, and Alec Burks, also scored in double digits.

It took a 31-point performance from Jayson Tatum and an incredible 35-point performance from Kristaps Porziņģis for the Celtics to come out with a win. Detroit put up a great fight tonight and gave us one of the best games of the season. They will look to play at the same level in the next game against the Raptors and snap their 28-game losing streak.
