Just like most parents, you don’t want to mess up, you don’t want to mess with your children up. If we didn’t raise them the world would do it.”

“And so there was a lot of fear in my parenting and my approach to it. Cause in our situation we were young black men that really need to know how things are. And being with their dad at home and having a great career, things are just not going to be handed to you. So you have got to understand the importance of family”.

Dell replied by accusing Sonya of “acts of illicit sexual misconduct” throughout their marriage. And he even refused to allow her to stay in their joint house. A contentious alimony fight occurred, with Sonya claiming that she began seeing her new partner months after her official separation from Dell. Sonya made the shocking assertion that Dell had many indiscretions during their 33-year marriage. She said that Dell’s cheating was known to their family and close friends for years, establishing it as an open secret. Sonya first refused to reveal Dell, but after he publicly accused her of adultery, she felt obligated to clear the air.
