Looking at the team scores, you will see Brandon Ingram as the team’s second-best scorer of the night. But everyone who watched the game will know that the Oklahoma City Thunder thrashed Ingram and the New Orleans Pelicans. And Lu Dort has been particularly a pain for Brandon. In Zion Williamson’s absence, the whole team looked to the 6’8 forward to take the lead.

Not for the lack of trying, but Dort has stuck to Ingram like glue. Every nook, cranny, crevice, and turn, wherever Ingram looked, Lu Dort was right there with him. And finally, when he had enough of Dort-ism for the last seven quarters, he shook him off with an elbow. It could be that the refs didn’t see it or they took pity on the 26-year-old, but BI wasn’t whistled.

While the officials turned a blind eye, the fans on X aren’t too forgiving. They called him out in a brilliant fashion. This user had quite a creative comment. “Dort has put Brandon Ingram in the witness protection program. Dort is skipping his post game shower to ride to New Orleans with the pelicans.”

When the Pelicans got Ingram, they were hoping he would turn out to be the superstar of the franchise. While he did not turn out to be so, the one thing he has done is to be consistent with his performance. And we are not talking about the number of games he has played. Except for his rookie season with the Lakers, where he appeared in 79 games, Brandon Ingram is yet to cross the 65.

Injuries have played a role in his absence. But compared to his fellow superstar, Ingram is definitely better. But the consistency we mentioned was that the NBA All-Star has remained steady in his growth. He is yet to average below 20 points per game. This regular season, the 2020 MIP averaged 20.8 points, 5.7 assists, and 5.1 rebounds while shooting 49.2% from the field. It is the second-best field-goal percentage of his career.

The only time he played in the playoffs (2021-22), Brandon Ingram scored the highest. He had 27.0 points, 6.2 each in assists and rebounds while going 40.7% from the three-point line and 47.5% from the field in the six games that New Orleans played. These are some of the best numbers he’s ever averaged in his career.

And as the Duke product is slowly moving to the veteran phase and the rumor mill churning with his trade, fans aren’t done with his performance tonight.

One user seems to know Ingram’s mind as he comments, “Brandon Ingram absolutely hates playing against Lu Dort.” Well, he wouldn’t be wrong. And if the slight elbow job mentioned above is any indication, this user is spot on!

Another user makes it no secret that it would be better to pack Ingram off and get the best deal the franchise can. “Lu Dort has Brandon Ingram playing like Team USA Brandon Ingram. Jokes aside with Trey Murphy and Herb Jones on the wing it is time for the Pelicans to get what they can for Ingram.”

This next guy is practically drooling at Lu Dort and his defensive ingenuity. “Lu Dort’s defense is actually insane because of that third quarter what he did to Brandon Ingram might go overlooked!”

And finally, this guy has a warning for Brandon. “Brandon Ingram is going to have night terrors about Lu Dort.”

However it may play out, Brandon Ingram currently has a job. In Williamson‘s absence, it is up to him to carry the team, Lu Dort or not.
