Every team in the NBA will soon begin preparations. As training camps open and rosters fill out, each team has a set plan. Well, most teams, not the Golden State Warriors. Their team barely has a rotation on their roster, with training camp right around the corner. It’s starting to ring a few bells of panic in the Dub Nation.

Notably, training camp is the time to have the new faces get familiar with the system. However, due to the Jonathan Kuminga stalemate, Steve Kerr has only nine players on his roster so far. This could be incredibly detrimental to the team, which won’t have an idea of the complete roster until training camp.

The Warriors’ offseason has been dominated by failed negotiations with Kuminga. The restricted free agent wants control over his future, which has made conversations difficult. October is the deadline for JK to sign his qualifying offer, which would make him the tenth member of the Warriors roster. But the Warriors will hope it doesn’t go that long.

That would mean the Warriors would wait until the very end to sign their free agent targets. By this time, other teams have held workouts with their teammates and are already a step ahead of the Warriors. It’s a major conundrum for Steve Kerr, too. The head coach has the pressure of delivering a title with the Warriors’ core.

It’s also made the famous head coach a villain among the Warriors fans. Even his birthday didn’t stop fans from criticizing Kerr.

Dub Nation targets Steve Kerr

The Warriors were ecstatic in wishing their long-time head coach Steve Kerr on his 60 birthday. Many others joined in wishing the four-time champion as a coach. There were also fans who blamed Steve Kerr for the Warriors’ current troubles. “Happy birthday, hope you wish for an ability to develop young talent,” one fan wrote.

Kuminga is primarily desperate for a fresh start because of inconsistent playing time. Steve Kerr has publicly spoken about finding it tough to work with Kuminga with the core. Even after his bright run against the Timberwolves during the playoffs, the head coach’s stance has budged.

Some are beginning to lose belief in Kerr altogether. Notably, “Is bro 65 yet? What’s the age of retirement? I mean. Thanks for 4 championships, but it’s time to let another coach transition with this aging core towards younger players,” a furious fan wrote.

Another fan wrote, ”Still running small ball lineup to the grave. Fire Kerr,”. The Warriors lost Kevon Looney in their offseason, one of their only true centers. There are rumours that Al Horford is keen on joining the Warriors. But that’s only possible once they get Kuminga’s situation sorted.

Due to differences between him and Kerr, the Warriors are unable to agree on a contract that suits their future. That has delayed the Warriors’ free agency acquisitions. Moreover, some fans aren’t entirely impressed with the Warriors’ strategy either. “Spent the whole offseason doing nothing just to pick up Seth Curry,” a fan commented.

It’s becoming increasingly clear that the Warriors fanbase is starting to run out of patience. With only nine players on the roster before training camp, the Warriors can’t even create a picture for their season. Remember, they can’t afford to waste these next few seasons.
