The Minnesota Timberwolves have been around for quite a long time. As is common with many teams, they struggled to find a footing in the NBA. Even though they have made the playoffs 11 times, the T-Wolves have yet to make an NBA finals appearance.

Fast forward to now and we do see a roster that has sparks of potential here and there. The best part is they seem to have a player fit for each role. Whether it’s  Anthony Edwards as the face of the franchise. Karl-Anthony Towns as the offensive player. Or Jaden McDaniels as a defensive end. And now, with Rudy Gobert’s addition, we can expect them to be a conference contender. But, there are a few who feel the Timberwolves should let KAT go, let him move on.

NBA veteran has a clear opinion on why Minnesota should just let Towns leave

Karl-Anthony Towns joined the Timberwolves in 2015. Since his joining, Minnesota has been practically untouchable on the offensive side. The man has even been named as the second-best player in franchise history, right behind one of the greatest power forwards – Kevin Garnett. And yet, his recent games show KAT making blunder after blunder. Not something we’d expect from a 27-year-old veteran.

The Club 520 Podcast team seems to have a good idea as to why Karl might be hobbling behind. “It’s also your surroundings,” ex-NBA champ Jeff Teague says. “In Minnesota, one year was Wigg team, next year we building around Kat, and now we building around Ant. They got Gobert and Kat playing together; that don’t mix. It’s time like, Kat got to take a backseat, but Kat still only like, 27. Let Kat go to DC or some sh*t, like it’s time to trade him …  for his sake, he deserves to get a fresh start somewhere else.

Is that really it? Wiggins also joined the Timberwolves in 2015. By 2020, he was drafted by the Warriors and he seems to be thriving there. Is that what Towns should also do? Maybe take his skills somewhere else, rather than do the same routine day in and day out? NBA veteran Jeff is of that opinion. Either way, with how Towns’ performance is going, Minnesota themselves might just put him up for a trade.

Jeff Teague ranks Karl-Anthony Towns right behind the Joker and The Process

Ex-NBA champion Teague is a fan of Kat’s offensive skills. As far as a talented player goes, Karl-Anthony Towns fits the bill for Jeff and his buddies. Combine that with Embiid‘s mentality, Kat would go on to rise to be one of the league’s best players.

How Karl-Anthony Towns Told a Compelling Family Story Involving a Top Sega Genesis Title

Talking to CBS Sports’s Colin-Ward Henninger, Towns has a clear idea of his contributions to the team. “I’ve sacrificed at every level … I came to the NBA, I sacrificed everything I can … All for the betterment of my team, my teammates, their lives, what they’re trying to accomplish.”

It’s a good thing to have an idea of your responsibilities and everything you have done to fulfil them. So far, it looks like Towns has done everything he said he would; gave his life to the cause. In a manner of speaking.

As of now, Kat has been hitting a lot of injuries. On top of that, his stats don’t exactly do him much favour. But since he is a self-proclaimed “best offensive talent” that the NBA has ever seen, either we can expect him to make a huge comeback or we can see him do that elsewhere.
