Jimmy Butler took the heat to another level with the matchup against the Brooklyn Nets tonight. Beating them at 122 points over their 115 left the Nets staggering. But coach Jacque Vaughn seems to have figured out what went wrong. Talking to the media post-game, Vaughn broke down what led to their anguish by halftime.

Not having the momentum to take to the halftime was their first mistake. And then trying to throw everything at a very aggressive and physical team like Butler’s Heat was just not done.

Even though Brooklyn lost this game, it didn’t stop the “Prince of Positivity” from lauding the efforts of Adebayo and Butler. But it also made what the Nets were lacking. Talking about the bad “recipe” they concocted, he says, “Didn’t get stops, and then you take the basketball and play half-court defense against an aggressive, physical team – not a good recipe.”

Adding this win, the Heats are on a seven-game winning streak now. And they couldn’t be happier with the outcome. When the game started, things were looking up for the Big Apple. They hoped to get one over the Miami Heat once again. On November 1, Erik Spoelstra had to see the worst 5-game start in his 16 seasons with the team. To none other than the Nets.

But that was the last of it. The Heats had had enough and took center stage to go on a long winning streak. Bridges and Walker are tied for taking the lead tonight for the Nets at 23 points each. Right behind them comes Johnson and Claxton with 16 points.

Going into the second half, Miami ran its course like a volcano. As Vaughn pointed out, “Their little run going into halftime … you can’t have that momentum shift going into halftime.” Absolutely! And that was what did it for the Nets.

What makes it hard to beat Jimmy Butler?

When talking about this, it is usually easy to just give all the stats and be done with it. But for the stats to show, a player must have a proper schedule. One that he/she will stick to come hell or high water. Jimmy Butler is one such player. By now, everybody has a pretty good idea about the man’s work ethic, discipline, and determination.

He wakes up every day at exactly 4:00 AM, no matter the place or time. Jimmy starts with his morning workouts and moves on to cryo-chamber recuperation, agility training, and then some court time. A healthy lifestyle also warrants a good night’s rest. And Jimmy does not cut any corners on sleep.

He always tries to get nine hours of sleep. In preparation for this, about three hours earlier, he gets his herbal tea ready, switches off any screens, and starts a cold air diffuser. Jimmy Butler has followed this regiment religiously for years. And that’s what makes him one of the fittest and toughest players in the NBA.
