Once again, the Knicks and the MSG crowd proved too much to handle for an inexperienced Pacers squad. Going down 0-2 after a brutal 130-121 loss in tonight’s game, the Pacers felt the complete wrath of the Knicks fans toward the end of the game. But the taunts and chants were not limited to just the players on the court as Pacers legend Reggie Miller, who was at the announcers’ table, also heard some familiar words. And edging closer to victory, Josh Hart had a sneaky move up his sleeve which the announcer had to remove his headset for!

With a ten-point lead and less than a minute remaining on the clock, the Knicks fans filled the arena with chants of “F**k You Reggie!”. And you thought he would be able to brush those words aside? Josh Hart had other plans.

To add salt in the Pacers legend’s wounds, Hart came up to Miller and told him in his ear, “I think they saying, F**k you.” Trying to put on a brave smile after what Hart said, Miller put his headset back on as the player went back to the court with a big laugh. Now a trademark chant in the Knicks arena, especially for the players who once shattered their dreams in the playoffs, Miller was already expecting the heat before entering the Garden.

During his recent appearance on The Dan Patrick Show, Miller said, “I will be surprised during the game if I don’t hear ‘Reggie Sucks.’ Actually, I’ll be a little hurt if I don’t hear ‘Reggie Sucks!’ I kind of want that.” And although taking the chant one step further by adding profanities, the Knicks faithful granted Miller’s wish tonight. But he certainly would not have expected a Knicks player to go out of his way to decode the chant for him as Josh Hart did!

Reggie Miller is still very fresh in the Knicks fans’ heads!

It has been nearly three decades since Reggie Miller turned the Knicks’ playoff dreams into a nightmare, not once, but multiple times. From his iconic choke sign to the biggest Knicks fan, Spike Lee, after scoring twenty-five points in the fourth quarter alone to win at MSG in the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals to his historic eight points in nine seconds just a year later, the best moments of his career at MSG became some of the Knicks’ worst memories.

And it is evident that those memories bother them even today from the “F**k You Reggie” chants in the arena. Even Miller, nearly two decades after his retirement, has his competitive spirit alive against the Knicks. Before entering enemy territory tonight, he said, “Just know, the Boogeyman is coming back to town to call the game.”

However, the Pacers legend did bury the hatchet with Spike Lee, putting a momentary end to the old rivalry by signing two framed posters for the Knicks’ biggest fan before the game. And to nobody’s surprise, those framed posters were old news articles from the iconic clash between Spike and Miller in the 90s.

But that’s how the relationship is and will always be between Reggie Miller and the New York Knicks. Having been a part of each other’s legacies for nearly two decades and gone through countless battles against each other, Miller will likely always get the same treatment when he enters Madison Square Garden.

Maybe, that’s a way for the Knicks fans to show respect to their best opponents.
