Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future in Milwaukee has been in question ever since the Bucks crashed out in the first round against the Pacers. This was the franchise’s third straight early playoffs exit and many believe the constant failure could motivate The Greek Freak to seek a trade this summer. Per veteran insider Shams Charania, this is the first time in his career Giannis is seriously reconsidering his future with the team. Amid the buzzing rumors, speculations are that Warriors could swoop in and acquire the Bucks star to pair him with Stephen Curry.
The Warriors’ early playoff exit didn’t just end a season—it exposed a hard truth about this roster. The biggest issue? Size. In both playoff rounds, opposing bigs routinely dominated the paint. With no reliable rim protector, Steve Kerr was forced to lean on 6’6” Draymond Green as his primary interior defender—an unsustainable fix that wore thin fast, evident from his comments “You see the toll it takes on him”.
The second glaring flaw? Scoring depth. When Steph Curry went down with a hamstring injury in Game 1 against Minnesota, the Warriors were left scrambling. Jimmy Butler carried what he could, but no one else stepped up consistently to share the offensive burden.

The solution might be as bold as it is obvious: Giannis Antetokounmpo. One of the few players who can simultaneously solve both issues—elite size and two-way dominance—Giannis could give Golden State the jolt it desperately needs. It’s a long shot, but if the Warriors want to chase one more ring in the Curry era, swinging big might be their only real option.
Well, the Bucks star made his impact even clearer by highlighting an impressive stat in his latest tweet. Turns out, Giannis is the league’s leading scorer over the last ten seasons, with 18,983 points. In 701 total games, he has averaged 27.1 points. Not too shabby for someone who is constantly criticized for not having a reliable jumper. Sending a strong message, Giannis wrote, “Not a scorer just a basketball player.”

When you hear the names, he topped with his scoring, the accomplishment sounds even more impressive. Of course, there is Steph at number six, with 16,672 points, averaging 27.3 points with nearly a hundred less games than Giannis.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Giannis the missing piece for the Warriors' championship puzzle, or are they dreaming too big?
Have an interesting take?
Just a rank above is LeBron James, with 17,271 points. Others in the top ten – James Harden, Nikola Jokic, Damian Lillard, and more. While not many would deem Giannis the best scorer in the league, these numbers certainly tell a different story. Surely, having a player like him on the roster would turn the Warriors into instant title contenders. But can they really afford him?
ESPN reporter claims Warriors “can’t win bidding war” for Giannis Antetokounmpo
As Giannis pointed out in his tweet, he is not just a scorer. With him, you get an elite rebounder, a lockdown defender, and even a pretty solid playmaker. Moreover, you get a guy who always puts in the work and never gives up. A complete basketball player. So, if the two-time MVP does become available in the market, many teams will pounce on the opportunity to acquire him. And ESPN reporter Brian Windhorst believes it will not be a bidding war the Warriors can win.

“There is a package that the Warriors could use. They have some future draft picks. They have interesting young players. Like last year, Brandon Podziemski was off limits. Who knows if that’s going to be the case this year? But they can’t win a bidding war.” Windy remarked.

Well, Mike Dunleavy has already given up a lot of assets to acquire Jimmy Butler. Sure, he still has young stars like Podz, Kuminga, and Moody to offer, but that might not be enough if other teams with more assets bundle a better trade package for the Bucks.

Moreover, Windy highlighted that Giannis’ departure from Milwaukee is not guaranteed, “I just want to say Giannis has not let it be known he certainly wants out of Milwaukee, so I do not think we should assume that.” So, the analyst believes the best chance for the Warriors to acquire him is if Giannis himself expresses desire to join forces with Steph and Jimmy.
“He has two years left on his contract. The Bucks don’t have to listen to him, but if he were to come to Milwaukee and say, I want to play with Steph, there could be a deal worked out.” Windy added. Looks like the ball is in Giannis’ court to determine what he wants his future to look like. What do you think he should do?
