Jonathan Kuminga had a plan: he wanted out. A sign-and-trade was the goal, ideally to a team like the Kings or the Suns, where he’d be featured and finally secure a bigger role. Sacramento reportedly offered him $63 million over three years, hoping to land him through a sign-and-trade that included Malik Monk and a protected first-round pick. But the Warriors never bit. “Kuminga won’t be traded this summer. He’ll be back on the Warriors’ roster to start the season,” said a team source.

That one quote delivered bad news to both Sacramento and Phoenix, who were seriously monitoring the situation. The Warriors aren’t willing to settle. They want real value, or they keep Kuminga. Joe Lacob, still a strong supporter of the 22-year-old, is reportedly willing to wait. The Suns, over the cap like the Kings, can’t offer him anything directly. And with no acceptable sign-and-trade on the table, both teams are effectively shut out. Meanwhile, Kuminga’s wish sits quietly on hold, unlikely to be granted anytime soon.

This is a developing story…
