The Miami Heat are in deep trouble. They headed into tonight’s clash against the Philadelphia 76ers shorthanded as Jimmy Butler got ruled out for the second straight game. Butler is dealing with a right foot contusion that he suffered during Friday’s game against the Pistons. To add to Miami’s troubles, their sharpshooter Duncan Robinson joined Jimmy Butler on the injured players list during tonight’s game. Robinson left mid-game after suffering back discomfort.

According to the latest report, Duncan Robinson is done for the night and will not return for the remainder of the game. The shooting guard played 24 minutes and finished with only 3 points and 4 rebounds before leaving the game. The severity of Duncan’s injury is unknown, and it is uncertain when he will return to the lineup.

Robinson’s injury is a devastating blow for the Heat as it could ruin their chances of getting into the playoffs. Amid Jimmy Butler’s foot injury, Robinson’s absence raises even more concerns for Miami. The Heat are currently 7th in the Eastern Conference standings and fighting to avoid the play-in tournament. Miami and Philly headed into tonight’s game with the same 37-30 record. The winner of tonight’s clash would move up in the standings and gain the upper hand ahead of the playoffs. However, Robinson and Butler’s absence in the final stretch of the season could lead to their downfall.

Duncan Robinson stats

Duncan Robinson has become a crucial part of the Miami Heat lineup in a short time. In his 6 years with the Heat, Robinson has helped the team reach two NBA Finals in 2020 and 2023. He is a career 40 percent three-point shooter and helps Miami spread their offense. Robinson’s presence also generates more space for Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo to operate freely. He is having a decent season so far, averaging 13.7 points, 3 assists, and 2.5 rebounds. More importantly, Robinson is shooting 40.6 percent from beyond the arc.

The Heat are 2-4 without Duncan Robinson this season. Miami was unable to bounce back after Robinson left tonight’s game and lost to the Sixers 98-91. That shows how important he is for Miami’s success. Duncan proved his importance in the last game after he led Miami to victory against the Pistons in Butler’s absence. Robinson scored a game-high 30 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds in yesterday’s win. Following tonight’s heart breaking loss, the Heat hope that Robinson’s back injury is not too serious and he can return to action in the next game.
