LeBron James has expressed his interest in owning an NBA team in Las Vegas on multiple occasions. The 4x NBA champion has already tried and tested his skills in business. And it’s pretty clear the man is indeed a King. LeBron has dominated every sphere he has taken a keen interest in.

Adam Silver has been edging around the idea since 2005. Though his were more of a subtle hint at a sure-fire future course of action, LeBron’s is more straightforward.

LeBron James once again states his wish for Adam Silver’s benefit

In a recent tweet, LeBron James hinted that the Vegas expansion was only a “matter of time.” He also stated his wish, “I hope I’m part of that time.”

The Lakers’ superstar is convinced that Sin City is the perfect venue for the next chapter of the NBA. And with good reason. Talking to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, the Lakers’ coach said, “The natural organic energy that’s here built into the city, it goes hand in hand with the level of sports that have been considered to be placed here.”

If that’s not a good enough reason, what is?

LBJ is not the only one interested in a Vegas team

There is someone else vying for that NBA team in Las Vegas much longer than King James. His Airness, Michael Jordan, had expressed his interest in owning an NBA franchise in Vegas 17 years before the King.

On a one-on-one with Cigar Aficionado’s Marvin Shanken, the Black Cat said, “I’d love to own a franchise in Las Vegas. But who wouldn’t? The opportunity it provides just from being in Las Vegas creates a great economic situation. But it’s not just Michael Jordan who would find that attractive. You could find a lot of other potential owners or investors who’d like to own a team in Las Vegas. Will it happen? I don’t know.”

Well, he couldn’t have known it then, but he certainly knows it now. With LeBron’s possible retirement hanging in the air, the star’s obvious interest in owning an NBA team in Vegas seems to be the last step toward its fruition. Sin City is known for its highly expensive attractions and ultra-lavish lifestyle. So, it’s common sense that the usual funding NBA metes out won’t be enough (and it’s huge!). In such a scenario, Jordan and LeBron would be perfect candidates to fill that void.
