In the realm of professional basketball, brilliance frequently attains a tireless pursuit of development. The Milwaukee Bucks’ superstar and two-time NBA Finals MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo, is no exception to this rule. Giannis went on an offseason training trip with none other than Houston Rockets veteran Hakeem Olajuwon. He, however, linked up with the maestro of the post-up game, in order to improve his skill set.

Quentin Richardson shares his opinion about this link-up

Giannis is well-known for preferring solo practices with trainers over the flash and splendor of pickup games with fellow NBA stars. Previously, he sought advice and inspiration from legends like?Kevin Garnett and the late Kobe Bryant. This offseason, he was determined to improve his post-up game, and there was no better instructor than “The Dream” himself, Hakeem Olajuwon.

This collaboration between Giannis and Olajuwon piqued the interest of basketball fans. They were curious about what the Greek Freak would learn from one of the game’s best post players. To this Quentin Richardson said, “If he gets the post-game up, it’s going to be curtain. Because the one thing that they do like everybody talks about, they wall up against him and don’t let him get his full head of his thing.”

He further added by saying, “If he gets a post up, it’s over. Because I don’t need that, I can just turn and drop drop drop. And when you could drop somebody, it’s over”. However, the training sessions with Hakeem Olajuwon did not occur without scrutiny and controversy. Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas took to social media to speak about this training session.

Gilbert Arenas thinks this link-up is useless

Gilbert Arenas, a former NBA player, took issue with Olajuwon allegedly charging $50,000 for a training session. Arenas was blunt in his criticism of the two-time NBA Finals MVP, accusing him of “ripping off” the current crop of players. This sparked a heated debate over the importance of such training sessions in today’s NBA.

Fans saw the impact of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s training with Olajuwon in his preseason debut against the Los Angeles Lakers. Giannis executed a post move that struck an obvious resemblance to “The Dream”.

While the execution was not perfect, it was an encouraging sign of the Greek Freak’s desire to extend his skill set. However, Arenas, who is known for his quick humor, reacted to the move by dismissing it as “travel” and punctuating his statements with a few laughing emojis. Fans and experts alike will monitor Giannis’ game attentively as he continues to improve. And with him adding a new dimension to his already powerful arsenal, he is slowly becoming unstoppable.
