The Orlando Magic are hosting the LA Clippers at KIA Center tonight and they are off to a good start. The Clippers are coming off a narrow victory over the 76ers while the Magic is on a two-game losing streak. Seeing how both teams are as healthy as they come, there is no doubt the two will be giving it their all. But it seems like the Orlando ops teams did not align.

During introductions of the starting lineup tonight, the name of LA’s 27-year-old guard was incorrectly spelled. The ops team included an extra ‘R’ in his name, making it Terrance instead of Terance.

Doing it once, one might probably chalk it to an accident. But the second time seems like a recipe for ignorance. Having spelled his name wrong during the live introduction, the Magic made the same mistake during the broadcast as well.

It would seem like this is a recurring situation. While the usual form of Mann’s first name comes with a double ‘R,’ it needn’t always be the case. A person’s name plays a huge role in their identity and when you start off on the wrong foot, it’s not a good look.

But this won’t be the first time that the team personnel have made these kinds of blunders. Terance Mann, at the least, can take comfort in the fact that it wasn’t his own team that did this. The same, however, couldn’t be said of one of the most hyped rookies in the NBA this season.

Prior to Terance Mann, Victor Wembanyama was prey to blatant ignorance

During the In-Season Tournament clash between the Warriors and Spurs in November, a major blunder on the part of San Antonio personnel caught the keen eyes of the media. The first half of the matchup saw the “generational talent” Victor Wembanyama wearing a jersey with the wrong last name.

Instead of the final ‘M,’ there was an ‘N,’ resulting in the name “Wembanyana”. Sometime in the second quarter, Wemby was wearing the jersey with the right spelling, but unfortunately, the embarrassing error was already viral. And we all know that the Internet never forgets.

The post-game presser saw the 7-foot Frenchman say that “it was a real shame” for his team to get his name wrong. He also mentioned that he had no clue about the misspelled jersey until someone pointed it out to him. Anyway, there is no doubt that the Spurs personnel will be double and triple-checking anything to do with Wembanyama. Hopefully, the Orlando Magic figured out their mistake as well.
