The Golden State Warriors have had a busy offseason, acquiring veteran Chris Paul while giving away Jordan Poole, Patrick Baldwin Jr. and Ryan Rollins. The deal was made for financial and locker-room reasons, but despite being 38 years old and entering his 19th season, Paul is anticipated to make a huge impact on the squad.

Following a second-round exit for the Phoenix Suns from the Playoffs, Paul hoped to be an important part of the team next season. But he was rather shocked to be traded twice within a week. And after putting the blame on an NBA legend for orchestrating his exit. There has been an update on the matter.

Chris Paul receives a one-line response after accusing NBA legend

Chris Paul shared his disbelief at the trade that took him from the Phoenix Suns to the Washington Wizards in an interview with The New York Times. He found out about the news through a text message from his son. Paul mentioned an NBA legend and friend of Suns owner Mat Ishbia, having a role in the decision-making process. Paul admitted that the trade was a necessary aspect of the business and that no one owed him anything. He recognized that things might change in this profession and that people have the right to make various choices.

Who is the NBA legend in conversation, you ask?

Well, Suns owner Mat Ishbia is good friends with former NBA legend Isiah Thomas, hence the accusation from Paul. CP3 said, “But when it comes through and my son texts me, I realize that you know, Mat and Isiah, I guess, just wanted to go in a different direction.”

Recently, former rapper, Sway Calloway, invited Isiah Thomas on his podcast Sway’s Universe. The highlight of the interview was not his grey hoodie, which read “The Original Bad Boy” but his response to CP3. Thomas even took a moment to diss Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.

During the conversation, Sway asked Thomas about Chris Paul joining the Golden State Warriors and whether Thomas had a role in it. The 2x NBA champion preferred to keep the details about Paul and his potential move to the Golden State Warriors private. Thomas preferred not to answer, he rather said, “I’m gonna speak to Chris when I see him. Because what he dropped nationally, that was just some… I’ll speak to him when I see him.” He expressed his intention to address the matter directly with Paul when they have a chance to meet in person.

This left fans curious about the possible connection between Thomas and Paul’s decision. The anticipation among Warriors fans and basketball enthusiasts continues to grow as they await more updates on the situation.

CP3 is a Warrior and will improve the squad

As per Warriors’ forward Draymond Green, adding Chris Paul to the Golden State Warriors will help the team’s young players, especially Jonathan Kuminga. He mentioned how Paul had a positive influence on Deandre Ayton of the Phoenix Suns and believes he can do the same for Kuminga.

When Paul joined the Suns in 2020, Ayton’s scoring slightly decreased, but their pick-and-roll game became highly effective, making Ayton one of the most efficient centers in the league.

Well, that is true and we’re hoping the Point God will unlock Kuminga’s best abilities in the game. What do you think of Isiah Thomas’ response, though? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
