The Los Angeles Clippers pulled off a massive win last night. With James Harden and Russell Westbrook out due to injury, Kawhi Leonard and Co. blew out the Chicago Bulls 126-111. Last night’s win perfectly highlighted the competitive side of the Clippers. Tonight, they look to improve their record as they prepare to face the New Orleans Pelicans on a back-to-back.

Before tonight’s game, Clippers head coach Ty Lue was hit with a tough question that infuriated him. A reporter asked Ty Lue if maintaining competitive integrity in the Clippers squad fell on his shoulders. The head coach broke character and replied, “What do you mean, falls on my shoulders? I’m competitive. I’m ready to compete right now… I don’t play, they know what we’re supposed to do. So, they got to do it.”

The reporter quickly clarified that the question was not a shot at the Clippers head coach. Ty Lue has done a great job as the Clippers head coach this season. The Clippers struggled to find their footing after James Harden joined the team earlier in the season. But Ty Lue figured things out within a few games, and the Clippers have been rolling since. Lue has led Kawhi Leonard and Co. to the 4th seed in the stacked Western Conference with a 42-23 record. Before Lue became a head coach, he was an NBA player. He won back-to-back titles with the Lakers during the Shaq and Kobe era in 2000 and 2001. So, Lue knows what it is like to compete at the highest level and win.

Ty Lue stats and accolades as a Coach

Ty Lue started his coaching career as an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics in 2011. He later joined the Clippers and the Cavaliers in the same role. But the highlight of Ty Lue’s coaching career came when he became the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016. In his first season as a head coach, Ty Lue led LeBron James and Co. to a Championship. He also won the 2016 ESPY award for Best Coach and coached in the 2016 All-Star Game. Ty Lue continued coaching the Cavs till 2018 and reached the NBA Finals every year.

Lue became the Clippers head coach in 2020 and led them to the Western Conference Finals in his first season as the head coach. Ty Lue has coached 512 NBA games in his career and has a winning record of 303-209. He has become one of the best head coaches in the league in a short time and is looking to win his second Championship with the Clippers this season.
