With Draymond Green back, the Warriors are looking to clinch that spot in the Quarter-Finals. But they just got a major injury scare in the form of Chris Paul. During the game, Paul was injured and had to retreat to the locker room due to lower left leg soreness.

Entering the night, CP3 averaged 9.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 7.7 assists. Whether he will return is yet to be seen.

Playing just five minutes and three points, Paul exited the game early. Except in 2017, when he was sidelined due to a sore left leg, his leg has been free of too many injuries. But his left side seems to be a favorite for injuries. As can be seen tonight, too.

Chris Paul is back in the locker room with lower left leg soreness, team says. His return is to be determined.

In the absence of the “Point God”, Corey Joseph took his place to start the second quarter. By the third quarter, it was announced that Chris Paul wouldn’t be returning to the game. So far, the Dub Nation had to deal with team play and a few other factors, but injuries were not part of it.

With CP3 sidelined, the Golden State’s position is concerning. Especially given the fact that many were not entirely happy with trading a young Jordan Poole for the veteran Paul. The leg soreness is not a serious injury, so hopefully, we can see 12x All-Star on the floor soon.

Chris Paul’s playoff woes

When Paul joined the Warriors, he promised he would do whatever was required of him to clinch the title this season. With a long and heavy list of achievements, the veteran guard has yet to add a ring to his resume. A major reason is the injuries that hit him at the worst possible times.

Ex-Mavs Star Doubles Down on Chris Paul’s “Personal” Tensions With Scott Foster

From 2015 to 2023, the “Point God’s” injuries have been on point. The second-round series of the 2015 playoffs did not have Paul due to a hamstring injury. 2016 saw CP3 fracture his right hand in the Game 4 loss to the Blazers. Not having him and Blake Griffin, the Clippers did not move forward.

Harden and Paul were wreaking havoc on the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals in 2018. But towards the end of Game 5, Chris limped off the floor with another hamstring injury. Though he did not necessarily sit out in the 2021 playoffs, the right shoulder contusion was giving him a hard time to hold on to the ball.

Covid was also another enemy for Paul then. The 2022 NBA playoffs showcased Paul with a quad injury during the Suns’ Western Conference Semi-Finals.

And finally, 2023 also did not show any kindness to Chris. Game 2 saw him leaving with a groin strain. Now his last hope is the Golden State. We’re hoping this slight setback stays just that.

“Not only is there more to life than basketball, there’s a lot more to basketball than basketball” - Jackson had a simple philosophy when he was coaching the Lakers. He wanted everyone to succeed and grow in the service of something bigger than themselves. This is what struck me the most.
