The Miami Heat took on the New York Knicks on Friday night and their run almost had a scary pause. Jimmy Butler entered the court in the second quarter and a few minutes into it, he attempted a layup that did not end well for him. He jumped twice and seemed to twist his right ankle. The small forward was seen limping around as a timeout was called.

Regardless of the setback, Butler immediately got back into the hardwood and continued to power through. At halftime, the Heat scored 50 points against the Knicks’ 51. Despite a slow start, Miami took the lead from the Knicks to dominate the game and Jimmy Butler led from the front in this quest. They eventually lost though to the Knicks 98-100.

This tip-off at the Madison Square Garden is not the first time for Jimmy Butler and his shot at an injury. During last season’s playoff game in the same arena, Butler rolled his ankle and had to miss out after their first win of the series. This time around, another injury to the six-time NBA All-Star would have been a death blow to Miami, who are already short-handed.

A worrying injury report for the Heat

Just a month into the season and the Miami Heat have had pretty scary injuries with its star players. Jimmy Butler had to sit out three games due to a knee injury. He also missed two more games due to unspecified reasons. Bam Adebayo also missed two games due to hip spasms. Guards Tyler Herro and R J Hampton are on the sidelines with no specific date for return. This leaves Kyle Lowry to take care of the defense end all by himself.

Duncan Robinson is out due to a thumb injury and point guard Dru Smith is out for the rest of the season with an ACL tear. In this situation, another injury to a Heat player would be detrimental to their chances, especially when it is someone as important as Jimmy Butler. Although the team came off a pretty good playoff run last year, maintaining the same for this time around is important as well.
