“Dreams do come true if you never lose sight of your goal and work hard toward it.” 35-year-old Isaiah Thomas proved this popular quote right after finally completing his NBA comeback. Following two 10-day contracts, Thomas officially finalized a deal with the Phoenix Suns for the remainder of the 2023-24 season. The 2-time All-Star has been manifesting his comeback since he last played in the NBA in 2022 and after achieving it, it has taken him a few days, but he has finally said something about his heartwarming journey.

The Phoenix Suns posted a picture of the moment Isaiah Thomas signed his new contract. Thomas took to X to reminisce about his journey and revealed what made his NBA comeback possible, saying, “Give all the glory to God. Spoke it all into existence every day.”

After his brief stint with the Charlotte Hornets in 2022, Thomas could not bag another NBA contract for two years. While many stars in his position would have considered retirement, Thomas decided to take the long route and joined G League’s Salt Lake City Stars in March.

When asked what motivated him to play in the G League, IT said, “I just love this sh*t too much.” Thomas balled out in the 4 games he played in the G League, averaging 32.5 points, 5.3 assists, and 1.3 steals.

Witnessing Thomas’ scoring outburst, the Phoenix Suns signed him on a 10-day contract on March 20. They renewed his contract 10 days later. Although IT played only 4 games during his 20-day run, the Suns have decided to keep him through the end of this season. Thomas brings backcourt depth and veteran leadership to the Suns squad, which could prove crucial in the post-season.

Just a few seasons ago, Isaiah Thomas was one of the most lethal point guards in the league. IT turned into a superstar during his time with the Boston Celtics and became arguably the most clutch player in the NBA. He became a 2-time All-Star and averaged a whopping 28.9 points and 5.9 assists in the 2016-17 season. But Thomas’ NBA career came crashing down after a series of major injuries. Following his All-Star season in Boston, IT bounced around from one team to another, trying to regain his form. Before signing with the Suns, IT played his last NBA game in April 2022. It took Thomas nearly two years to complete his NBA comeback. “It would be so easy to just quit and be at the crib. Anybody can do that. I just know I have so much more left in the tank.” Thomas said during his G League run in March.
