“It Hurts..”: Warriors Ex-President Bob Myers Weeps for ‘Bigger Than Life’ Dejan Milojevic

The NBA World is mourning the passing of Dejan Milojević. The Golden State Warriors assistant coach passed away on Wednesday at the age of 46. Stephen Curry and Co. were in Utah to play against the Jazz, and Milojevic fell ill during a team dinner a night before the game. He was taken to the hospital in Salt Lake City, where he took his final breath. The NBA community was devastated by the news, and the Warriors vs. Jazz game was postponed.

Bob Myers was in shock after hearing the news about his former co-worker’s passing. “It hurts.” Myers, visibly holding back tears. It was clear he was struggling with the loss of Milojevic. The former Warriors President also revealed what it was like working with the Serb. “It’s just hard because he was this bigger than life person, and he would light up a room.” Myers added. Milojevic joined the Warriors as an assistant coach in 2021. He helped Stephen Curry and Co. win their 4th Championship in 2022 and was an integral part of the Warriors coaching staff. This year was Dejan’s third season as the Warriors’ assistant coach.

He worked closely with Bob Myers when he was still the President of the Warriors. Myers stepped down from his Presidential role last May. So, Dejan worked under Myers’ leadership for two years. Myers offered his condolences to Dejan’s wife and his two children, Masa and Nikola.

The Warriors’ heartbreaking season continues
The Golden State Warriors are having an abysmal season. Not only are they struggling to stay afloat on the hardwood, but the passing of assistant coach Dejan Milojević has also shattered them off the court. Stephen Curry and Co. were ready to face the Utah Jazz tonight. But it all became secondary after they heard the news about Milojevic. The game got called off as the Warriors were in no condition to get on the court after the devastating loss. Several NBA superstars, including Luka Doncic and Warriors rookie Brandin Podziemski, mourned the death of Milojevic on social media.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver also issued a statement and offered his condolences during the tragic time. It is in hard times like these that the NBA forgets their rivalries and differences and unites in honor of a beloved person in their community.
