The NBA offseason has been a frenzy of trade rumors and presumptions. But one interesting story that kept fans on the edge of their seats was the James Harden trade discussions between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Philadelphia 76ers. However, according to a new disclosure on The Hoop Collective podcast by ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, this story may have taken an unforeseen turn.
Apparently, the trade talks between the two teams have come to an end. This means the trade did not go through and Harden is still a part of the 76ers at the moment.

According to Windhorst, the Los Angeles Clippers were the ones who decided to call off the James Harden trade discussions. This information sheds new light on this over-speculated situation. The 76ers have been deemed to be demanding an excessive asking price for Harden, prompting the Clippers to reconsider their involvement.

Windhorst disclosed “[The Clippers] tried to trade for James Harden, and that deal didn’t happen. And from what I understand, it was the Clippers who said, ‘Okay, there’s no deal here. We’re gonna move on.’ And while I assume that they could certainly make a deal midseason, I assume that this is what they’re gonna go with.”

What’s the future of James Harden?
As Harden’s dream of playing alongside Paul George and Kawhi Leonard is shattered, fans are trying to speculate his next moves. However, Harden’s current team is thinking one step ahead.
The Philadelphia 76ers have made a strategic move by signing veteran Danny Green to a one-year deal. While this move bolsters their perimeter shooting options, it also brings a “veteran voice” into a locker room facing uncertainty, particularly with James Harden’s desire to potentially be traded.

Green’s championship experience, maturity, and familiarity with trade sagas are seen as assets. He was a part of the team that dealt with the Ben Simmons trade for Harden. So he might be able to help stabilize the current tense environment in Philadelphia.
While Danny Green’s impact on the court will be valuable, it’s his potential off-the-court influence will play a crucial role in determining James Harden’s future with the team. The hope is that, with seasoned voices like Green’s, Harden may reconsider and commit to the Sixers for at least one more season in pursuit of a championship.
