We have become so accustomed to seeing little Tatum following his father around that his absence from the court leads to fans’ disappointment. The 4x All-Star’s love for Deuce is a sight that melts even the coldest of hearts. Another form of love for his 6-year-old son is seen in his tattoos.

Dubbed as having the best back tattoo in the league, Jayson Tatum rocks some of the coolest tats in the NBA. And now, following his father’s footsteps, Tatum Jr. is planning on getting a permanent full-back tattoo.

Tatum’s love for tattoos isn’t simply for the aesthetic quality they provide. His decision to get his body inked is thanks to his father, Justin Tatum, who has his fair share of tats. Each tattoo Tatum has on his body carries a special meaning. Let’s take a look at a few of them!

A quick look at the tattoos of Jayson Tatum

Starting with the tattoo of Jay wearing jersey number 0, holding his son, Deuce takes its place on his left thigh. After getting tattooed for the first time, Tatum had vowed to never go through that again. But then his son was born when he was just 19. Imprinting that on his body felt like the most natural thing to do.

The mamba mentality is something Tatum follows to this day. In honor of his mentor, close friend, and hero, he got ’24’ tattooed on his inner left leg. It is drawn in the shape of two black mamba snakes, another tribute to Bryant’s nickname, “Black Mamba”.

The most impressive is, of course, his back tattoo. His strong spiritual beliefs are manifested with the words “Gods Will” tattooed in huge font across his back. The ‘G’ has a crown on it as well. Below that is inked Proverbs 3:5-6. The Bible verse talks about the importance of trusting in God.
