Athleticism and Nikola Jokic? With ‘The Joker,’ you are never fully prepared. And his latest performance before the Denver Nuggets vs Toronto Raptors matchup is another proof of that. Warming up and getting some shots in ahead of the tip-off, Jokic treated the crowd to a sneak athletic endeavor.

This has left Pat McAfee and the entire world shocked. A video of Nikola landing a dunk is getting viral as we speak. “Joker’s adding some sauce Now. We. Go.” was McAfee’s response to the clip.

The Nuggets defeated the Raptors 113-104 tonight. As opposed to a quiet performance in their previous matchup with the Mavericks (Jokic had a score of 8-7-9), the Serbian star put up 31 points, six rebounds, and 15 assists – a double-double. With that, the reigning champion also made history by passing Hall of Famer Charles Barkley for 107th in the All-Time assists list.

It’s no secret that Nikola Jokic wasn’t considered a proper fit for the NBA. It was apparent during the NBA draft when he was passed on until being selected by the Denver Nuggets as the 41st pick. What’s more? His selection was even overshadowed by a cheesy, taco commercial. That’s positively posterizing!

Since his arrival, leading up to being the NBA champion, Jokic has captivated everyone. Including rookies and some big names.

ROTY gives flowers to Nikola Jokic

When Stephen A. Smith asked the 2023 Rookie of the Year, Paolo Banchero to name his top pick from the league, the young Magic showed no hesitation when he said, “Nikola Jokic”. When Stephen A. still showed his confusion about the hype surrounding the Serbian, Banchero had a simple answer.

Should Nikola Jokic Be Considered a Top-10 Player in the History of the NBA?

“I think it’s a certain knowledge and a certain cadence that basketball like there is on the court and I think he’s just mastered that with his decision-making,” he said.

This is the most recent circumstance of a rookie in awe of “The Joker”. But before this, the Timberwolves‘ star, Anthony Edwards had also expressed his appreciation. In an interview with Complex earlier this month, Edwards had reportedly said that his dominance on-court and the way he absorbed the hits that kept coming at him during the playoffs were simply brilliant.

Not one to be left behind, Shaquille O’Neal is also a huge fan of the horse-loving big man. Though he got Jokic’s nationality wrong on a few occasions (intentionally or not is still up for debate), it’s clear that his NBA Finals performance really got the Big Diesel singing his praises.

One take at a time

“Not only is there more to life than basketball, there’s a lot more to basketball than basketball” - Jackson had a simple philosophy when he was coaching the Lakers. He wanted everyone to succeed and grow in the service of something bigger than themselves. This is what struck me the most.
