After an exceptionally good season last year, the Denver Nuggets are playing this one as defending champions. The 2022-23 proved to be their best one yet with their first time entry into the NBA finals, led by Nikola Jokić and Jamal Murray. In the franchise history of forty-seven years in the NBA, this was their first ever NBA championship defeating Miami Heat  4–1 .

With so much at stake, the Nuggets have been playing this new regular season with caution and consistently. Besides piling up records after records as a team, there are individual milestones as well that some players are setting.

Nikola Jokic’s record in triple-doubles

In the list of record number of triple-doubles in the regular season, Jokic occupies the same position as LeBron James at number 4, with 107 each. The two also share this spot with former NBA All-Star Jason Kidd. In today’s match against the Dallas Mavericks, the Serb just needed an assist to do it and move past LeBron. But rather, he chose to score, setting aside personal goals for the team’s win.

At the beginning of the season, the Serb followed James at number 5 with 105, just short of three to surpass him. Over the course of the five games this season, he scored two against the Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz. Now all that remains is for him to push past and net another to finally take the lead from the two legends.

Nuggets vs Mavs breakdown

Right from the first minute, Denver took the lead, asserting their dominance till the very end. Jokic played well putting up this season’s best score for the team with 33 points, fourteen rebounds and nine assists. The Nuggets prevailed against an extremely competitive play from the Mavs with Luka Doncic posting 34 points, ten rebounds and eight assists.They won with a comfortable 1125 against Dallas’ 114.
