The Golden State Warriors came in hot today, securing a dominating 113-92 victory over an injury-riddled Miami Heat. In the post-game interview, Warriors’ Klay Thompson reminisced about the Warriors’ championship glory and gave props to a fellow Warrior, surprisingly not Stephen Curry!

In the post-game presser, Klay Thompson referred to teammate Andrew Wiggins and he elaborated, “That’s why we won the Championship a couple of years ago because of Andrews’ two-way play. We obviously need him to be that to go where we wanna go and he’s so vital to what we do. Without him, we cannot reach our full potential so we all love Wiggs and we know what he’s capable of.”

Andrew Wiggins had been missing from the Warriors lineup for a while this season, in a similar situation as last season citing “personal reasons”. Despite averaging a career-low in points this season, Wiggins is still a key part of the Warriors’ machinery. In his last five games, Wiggins has been averaging 13.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.0 assists. In tonight’s game, Andrew put up 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 assist mirroring Stephen Curry’s performance of 17 points, 2 rebounds, and 6 assists tonight. However, it wasn’t Steph or Wiggins who was the leading scorer in tonight’s game against the Heat.

Klay Thompson Steals The Show

Klay Thompson emerged as the Warriors’ offensive leader tonight, dropping a season-high 28 points along with 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Jonathan Kuminga was a strong supporting cast member chipping in 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists.

“Our assist to turnover ratio was really good…that’s always a great indicator of if it’s a good night at the office,” stated a happy Klay in the post-presser while referencing GSW’s assist-to-turnover ratio of 30:12. Golden State currently holds a 19-15 record on the road compared to their 18-19 home record. They’re on track to become only the second team in NBA history to finish with a winning overall record while having a losing record at home.

Bam Adebayo led Miami with 24 points, but the Heat were without their leading scorer Jimmy Butler (illness), and several other key players such as Tyler Herro (foot – 16th straight game missed), Kevin Love (heel – 14th straight game missed), and Duncan Robinson (back – 5th game missed). Haywood Highsmith and Terry Rozier chipped in with 15 points each for the Heat.

With this dub, the Warriors will be one game ahead of the Houston Rockets in the race for the 10th seed and the final play-in spot in the wild, wild West. The Heat (39-33) remain in 7th place in the Eastern Conference, tied with the Philadelphia 76ers. This loss puts Miami 2 games behind the Indiana Pacers for the 6th seed and the final guaranteed playoff spot in the East.
