The Golden State Warriors are finally starting to figure things out. Stephen Curry and Co. improved their record to 30-27 following tonight’s dominant 123-112 win against the Washington Wizards. They are now 3-1 since the All-Star break. The Warriors will head to New York to face the Knicks on Thursday. While the team prepares for the Knicks clash, Klay Thompson has a different plan in mind.
After Klay led the Warriors to victory with his impressive 25-point performance, he revealed how he plans to avoid the 2017 mishap during his upcoming New York trip. During Klay’s post-game interview, Bonta Hill warned him, “Stay away from the construction zones in New York City.” referring to his viral New York interview from 7 years ago. The 4-time Champion hilariously replied, “I am going to Central Park and playing Chess.”

In December 2017, Klay was randomly interviewed by a FOX 5 news reporter while he was roaming the streets of New York. The reporter had no idea who the 4-time Champion was. She asked Klay questions about the scaffolding problem in the city which he respectfully answered.

The video quickly went viral on social media because of Klay’s nonchalant personality and how he answered all questions like a fellow New Yorker. After the interview went viral, Klay revealed the interviewer had no idea about his profession or status. However, the Warriors superstar found the interaction refreshing. “It was great. It was nice.” With NBA stars so used to the limelight and media surrounding them constantly, it was nice for Klay to meet someone who had no idea how famous he was.
Is Klay Thompson back?
While Klay plans on seeking shelter in Central Park, all eyes will be on him when the Warriors face the Knicks on Thursday. Klay has found a new life after Warriors head coach Steve Kerr removed him from the starting lineup. The 34-year-old has been highly productive since he started coming off the bench. After a 23-point performance in Sunday’s loss against the Nuggets, Klay followed it up with a 25-point outing tonight. He was also highly efficient in his performance. Klay went 9 of 16 from the field and made 6 of his 11 three-point attempts.

Following “Role Models” Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson’s Footsteps Helped Jordan Poole Blossom, Claims Warriors HC
If Klay is comfortable making the sacrifice in the long run, this could become his new role for the Warriors. Klay and CP3 could be a deadly duo coming off the bench and lead the second unit while Steph and Draymond rest. Klay’s approach towards the drastic change in his role has been very positive, and it could help the Warriors make another run for the Championship. Hopefully, Klay will continue his impressive form in New York and not return with another viral video.
