It looks like Klay Thompson has finally found his rhythm. After an underwhelming start to the season, Klay has picked things up since head coach Steve Kerr moved him to the bench. The 34-year-old dropped 25 points last night against the Washington Wizards to lead the Warriors to victory. Despite Klay showing glimpses of his former self, his Warriors’ future still hangs in the balance. Amid all this, Klay fired up the internet by expressing his love for New York City.

The Warriors are currently in New York to face the Knicks on Thursday. During his trip, Klay Thompson posted a picture of himself roaming the streets of New York on his Instagram story, “I love this place.”

Klay’s love for New York left the NBA World in a frenzy as they connected it to his potential off-season move this summer. One Knicks fan did not want Klay in New York, “We don’t want you lil bro.” The NBA World followed suit.

One fan claimed Klay was too late to make the move. He is past his prime and would have been a great addition to the Knicks roster 10 years ago.

This fan was okay with Klay joining the Knicks only if he agreed on a minimum-value contract.

One hopeful fan wished for LeBron James and Klay Thompson to team up in New York next season.

A fan told Klay to enjoy the sights because the Warriors would lose to the Knicks tomorrow.

Is this Klay Thompson’s last season in Golden State?

Klay Thompson is in the final year of his 5-year $189 million contract. The 34-year-old has been constantly negotiating a new contract with the Warriors front office. However, there has reportedly been a huge gap between what Klay wants and what the Warriors are willing to offer. The Warriors reportedly offered Klay a 2-year $48 million contract extension during the off-season. Although it is a decent contract for a 34-year-old player, it is a massive downgrade from Klay’s current $189 million contract. Klay was unhappy with the offer and it might even have caused a rift between him and Warriors’ owner Joe Lacob.

Although both parties would love Klay to remain in Golden State for the rest of his career, it is still uncertain what he will do this summer. “He has a right to do whatever he wants to do. If he wants to go to free agency, that’s his right. He’s earned it. If he wants to be a Warrior for life, he’s going to have that opportunity.” Joe Lacob said recently. If Klay decides to part ways with the Warriors, New York City could be his preferred destination, considering his love for the city.
