Coming into tonight’s game, the pressure is on for the Boston Celtics. While the Detroit Pistons are frustrated with their 27-game losing streak, the Celtics are looking to be “not that team”. But the Wizards’ Kyle Kuzma seems to be quite adept at keeping Boston sharp.

Kuzma took to X (formerly Twitter), to share his thoughts on the progress of the game. Except that his thoughts are borderline trolling.

He reposted a snap of the Celtics-Pistons score by the end of the first half, with the comment, “At this point its like “dont be that team”,” with a laughing emoji at the end.

The panic that set in amongst the Celtics resulted in an overtime win with a 128-122 score. With the way things were shaping up, Cade Cunningham and Co. genuinely believed they were going to snap their terrible luck. Unfortunately for them, they are now tied with the Philadelphia 76ers for the worst losing streak in the history of the NBA.

Looking closely, the Pistons are still in a better position than the Sixers. Philly’s losses spanned over two seasons. The 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons, with 26 and 28 losing streaks, respectively. Even so, that was then, and this is now. And Detroit needs to be focusing on the now.

Cade Cunningham was the leader of the pack tonight. With 31 points, he led the scoreboard, while Jaden Ivey, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Jalen Duren followed closely behind, with double-doubles of their own. Ivey had 22 points and 10 rebounds, Bogdanovic landed 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Duren contributed 15 points and 14 rebounds, as the ‘Motor City’ desperately tried to get the better of Beantown.

And for a major part of the night, they did succeed. The first half ended with the basketball gods on Motown’s side. The fourth quarter saw both teams tied with 26 points, forcing an OT. The overtime also looked to be going in the direction of the Celtics being “that team”.

Fortunately for them, Derrick White‘s 10 of 23 points happened during this time and Kristaps Porzingis joined with six. The Latvian big man led tonight with 35 points, eight rebounds, and one assist. The Celtics will be hosting the Raptors next, while the Pistons will host them on Saturday.

One take at a time

“Not only is there more to life than basketball, there’s a lot more to basketball than basketball” - Jackson had a simple philosophy when he was coaching the Lakers. He wanted everyone to succeed and grow in the service of something bigger than themselves. This is what struck me the most.
