The Los Angeles Lakers lost all their momentum after suffering back-to-back heartbreaking losses in the heated playoff race. After making the Top 8 seed for the first time since December 29, LeBron James and Co. find themselves back in the dreaded 9th spot. They will face the Memphis Grizzlies tomorrow, hoping to improve their 45-35 record and regain the 8th seed. However, their superstar duo Anthony Davis and LeBron James’ presence in the injury report raises some serious concerns, ahead of the game.

According to the Lakers’ latest injury report, LeBron James is questionable to play tomorrow against the Grizzlies. The reason has been listed as left ankle peroneal tendinopathy, which he has been dealing with for the majority of the season. LeBron has frequently been in and out of the lineup because of this lingering injury. However, the Lakers will need LeBron’s firepower. He has averaged 23.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 8.3 assists against the Grizzlies this season. He also scored a whopping 33 points, 11 assists, and 7 rebounds on Tuesday despite playing through a flu-like illness. Notably, there’s been a positive update for AD.

Fortunately, LeBron James co-star Anthony Davis’ status has been upgraded to probable for tomorrow. He is dealing with a left eye contusion because of the injury during Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. AD also missed Tuesday’s home game against the Warriors because of nausea and headache from the eye injury. His team has struggled on both ends of the floor without Davis in the last two games, a major reason for the Lakers’ back-to-back losses. AD has been in elite form this season, averaging 24.5 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks. And the Lakers will need him in the lineup to ensure a win against the Grizzlies.

A loss against the Grizzlies could prove to be detrimental to the Lakers’ season

The Lakers are favorites to win tomorrow as the Grizzlies have been one of the worst teams in the league this season. The Grizzlies will head into tomorrow’s game extremely shorthanded, as most of their star players have been ruled out for the remainder of the season. Desmond Bane, Jaren Jackson Jr., Marcus Smart, and Derrick Rose are key names who are likely to sit out. That gives LeBron James and Co. a perfect opportunity to help themselves and add another win to their record.

A win tomorrow is crucial because the Warriors are only 1 win away from matching the Lakers’ record. Stephen Curry and Co. also have an extra game remaining in their schedule. Should the Lakers lose tomorrow, the Warriors are likely to take over their 9th seed and get a home-court advantage for their play-in tournament matchup. Even a tied record will give Golden State the edge because they have a 3-1 season series lead against the Lakers. The Lakers would need to win both their regular season games to keep their dreams alive. A loss tomorrow could hand them a severe disadvantage in the play-in race, pretty much ending LeBron James and Co.’s 2023-24 campaign.
