Lakers Injury Report: LeBron James Coddles Fans Worry After Abrupt Departure From Kings Game

The Los Angeles Lakers recently faced off against the Sacramento Kings. While the Lakers had been making a commendable effort over the past few games to prop themselves upward on the points table, their luck didn’t seem to be working quite well against Sacramento. With 3 minutes and 56 seconds remaining on the clock, the team was trailing by a score of 108-122. Fans were probably holding hope that Lakers star LeBron James would carry the team during this last stage, just as he did during their matchup against the Clippers. However, their wishes faltered after the 39-year-old departed straight to the locker room at this point after sustaining an injury.
Fans who wanted an update on whether the injury is a serious one didn’t have to wait for long. According to a social media update by journalist Dan Woike, “Darvin Ham said LeBron James is going through “an evaluation process” and there will be an update later.” He retweeted his previous post and provided another update by writing “James said it was his ankle injury that he’s been dealing with that bothered him late”.

LeBron James’ on-court absence provided an extra disadvantage to the already trailing Lakers. Despite their best efforts to close the points gap, the Kings continued holding their ground, eventually taking home the win by a score of 130-110. Before his exit, the four time NBA champion had managed to lead his team on the offensive front by scoring 31 points. The gap kept getting closed from time to time, but the Kings offensive led by De’Aaron Fox, Domantas Santis and Malik Monk kept on adding more and more to ensure that what took place between the Lakers and Clippers should not happen to them.

LeBron’s ankle injury has been a bother for quite some time now
LeBron James may be one of the most dominating forces on the basketball court right now but just like any other player, he is easily prone to injuries. Since January, the player has been dealing with a left ankle injury that has proved to be quite a hinderance. The same even reportedly forced him to opt out of the Lakers first game during the All-Star Break.
It’s been almost two months now, and the situation does not seem to be getting much better. Even before the matchup against the Sacramento Kings, the player had been listed as questionable on the Injury Report. While he did manage to make an appearance and deliver a commendable performance, NBA fans saw what happened during the most crucial moment of the game.

The Lakers will probably not push for LeBron to exert himself, saving his skills and talent for the playoffs. Whether LeBron will choose to opt for a rest will only be determined in the next few days, when his team will take on the current No 2 Eastern Conference team Milwaukee Bucks.
