The Brooklyn Nets and the Toronto Raptors agreed on a trade for Denis Schroder, Thaddeus Young, and Spencer Dinwiddie on deadline day. Schroder and Young went to the Nets, while Dinwiddie found a new home out north. However, his joy was short-lived, as the Raptors waived him almost immediately, and he is now without a team.

That leaves the Canadian franchise with two empty roster spots. With the already stacked buyout market with names like Marcus Morris Sr. and Kyle Lowry, the addition of Dinwiddie only adds to the glamor. And a select few teams, with hope.

Add to it the fact that Spencer Dinwiddie has subtly left breadcrumbs suggesting he would like to play for his home team on X.

A Los Angeles native, the 30-year-old’s interest in the Lakers is understandable. Having kept quiet during the deadline, there is the possibility of the team getting aggressive in the buyout. D’Angelo Russell was their primary trade asset. Seeing as how that train left the station, the next best thing is to get Dinwiddie as the backup ball handler off the bench for D’Lo.

One take at a time

“Not only is there more to life than basketball, there’s a lot more to basketball than basketball” - Jackson had a simple philosophy when he was coaching the Lakers. He wanted everyone to succeed and grow in the service of something bigger than themselves. This is what struck me the most.
