Having been at the peak of the NBA mountain for over two decades, LeBron James has earned a life of luxury. The Akron Hammer has a magnificent mansion in Los Angeles and other priced possessions made possible due to his billion-dollar fortune. Hence, for a man his stature, many would assume convenience to be a major part of his life. Several of the NBA’s biggest icons, valuing their time have opted to purchase private jets.

Notably, Michael Jordan owns a sleek Gulfstream G-IV worth $61 million. It’s the most expensive of all jets owned by NBA legends. Several other legends such as Shaq and Magic Johnson who have become popular business tycoons are proud jet owners too. Recently, ClutchPoints put together a list, which also included James possessing a private jet. As per Amalfi Jets, he owns a Gulfstream G650, a charter worth $78 million.

However, James wanted to set the record straight. “LIES, I DO NOT own a private jet,” he wrote in the comments of the post. He also made additional efforts to dispel the misinformation. Taking to his Instagram stories, James wrote “Cap. Take me off this list!” to double down on his confession.

Since then, the post has been updated with James’ mention removed altogether.

James has made use of a private jet to fly in the past. His preference seems to be the Gulfstream G280. The 40-year-old has equipped its services on numerous occasions such as vacations or even flying across places in general. But despite the frequent usage, his confession makes it seem he never owned the jet.

LeBron James is intricate about his spending

According to Forbes, LeBron James’ current net worth stands at $1.2 billion. With a myriad of endorsements that pay him $80 million per year, if the Lakers forward wanted to, he could purchase a private jet. The NBA’s all-time scorer doesn’t lack the resources to do. Moreover, as a businessman who travels frequently, James also has a credible cause to make such a lavish buy.

However, the four-time MVP has never been known to make such hefty purchases.

In fact, his close friends around the NBA think of him as the exact opposite. Kevin Love famously proclaimed when traveling on the road “That drive from the airport and going through customs to then getting to our hotel, yeah, there’s no data used at all. He’s waiting for the Wi-Fi all the time”. Dwyane Wade has also shared stories about James’ unwillingness to spend.

Does any of this bother LeBron James? Absolutely not. He embraces being mindful of such frivolous purchases. Notably, when Twitter announced people would need to pay for their verification blue tick, James refused to pay as low as $5. His tweet read Welp guess my blue [tick] will be gone soon cause if you know me I ain’t paying the 5,”

Elon Musk offered him a complimentary subscription on his behalf. Hence, if that’s how particular LeBron James is about his spending habits, you could imagine a private jet wouldn’t have even crossed his mind.
