Music lovers have gone into a frenzy since rap legends Kendrick Lamar and Drake reignited their beef. Lamar took the first shot at Drake through a guest verse in Future’s new song ‘Like That’. 3 weeks after Kendrick’s viral diss, Drake finally responded with ‘Drop & Give Me 50’ which mysteriously leaked on the internet. Many speculated the track to be AI-generated, but that did not stop it from taking over the internet. Even Lakers superstar LeBron James chimed in on the Drake vs. Kendrick debate, further fuelling the rapper’s beef!

After listening to Drake’s viral response, LeBron James could not help but express his excitement on social media. The 4-time Champion tweeted, “Nothing like 2 heavyweights doing What They Do Best! For the love off of the sport.” Although LBJ played it safe by not revealing where his allegiance lies, he is likely to give a slight edge to Drake because of their strong friendship.

LeBron and Drake have been close friends for over 15 years. He’s supported Drake in good times and bad, and the Canadian rapper has always made sure to give LeBron his props. He even mentioned in his concert last year how LBJ supported him in the early days of his career. The rapper reminisced on a story from 2009. He admitted that nobody, except for the NBA veteran, believed in him at that time.

As per the Canadian rapper’s words, LeBron flew all the way to Toronto to support and be with him at his release party. He appreciated that gesture and considered it an honor to perform in LA in front of LeBron and Bronny, reportedly. For years, the NBA pro has had a close connection with the rap scene. He’s been name-dropped in over 15 rap lyrics to date that too by the industry’s biggest names like JayZ, Kanye, Rick Ross, Drake, etc.

So in this particular case, it would not come as a surprise even if LeBron joined Team Drake amid the rapper’s beef with Lamar.

Drake’s viral response to Kendrick Lamar

Fans eagerly waited for Drake’s response after Kendrick fired shots at him in ‘Like That’. In the viral verse, Kendrick denied that he along with Drake and J Cole, are the “big three” of the rap industry. Instead, Lamar claimed, “Big three, it’s just big me.” He further targeted Drake with a wild Michael Jackson-Prince comparison and mentioned his ‘For All The Dogs’ album from 2023. “And your best work is a light pack / Ni**a, Prince outlived Mike Jack’ / Ni**a, b*m / ‘Fore all your dogs gettin’ buried / That’s a K with all these nines, he gon’ see Pet Sematary.”

Drake fired back at Lamar in his alleged new diss track, “Tough on record, in my city it was friend zone/ You won’t ever take no chain off of us/ How the f**k you big steppin’ with size seven men’s on?/ This the bark with the bite, ni**a, what’s up?” After making fun of Kendrick, Drake continued to slam him, “You better do that motherf**kin’ show inside the bitty/ Maroon 5 need a verse, you better make it witty/ Then we need a verse for the Swifties/ Top say drop, you better drop and give ’em 50.”
