The Los Angeles Lakers managed to grab the win at 132-131 tonight. Not letting the Lakers take off with the lead, Toronto was always close behind. But what’s going viral now is a Lakers fan’s viral half-court shot. The MGM Park Big Shot Jackpot winner gets $100,000. With the entire arena zeroing in on the fan, he takes a calming breath and walks back, getting in position to take the winning shot.

When the shot landed, it looked like the man himself was shaken for a second before the reality sank in. And he was off like an energizer bunny. While it was a great night for that Lakers fan, it doesn’t look too good for Austin Reaves.

Watching the man down a shot from half-court has the X erupt in hilarious comments. One user asked LA to “sub him in for Reaves.”

Another user points out the need of the franchise.

Yet another user seems to take great love to the Lakers fan as he asserts the man would “legitimately” be the “best shooter on the team if they sign him.”

Here’s another one with a simple wish.

Finally, this guy believes that the Purple & Gold should have signed the guy on the spot!

In 32 minutes on the court, Reaves finished with 11 points, seven assists, and three rebounds. The majority of the team scored in double digits. And with tonight’s win, the Lakers extended their winning streak to two. Having broken out of their four-game skid against the Clippers previously, the Raptors win is yet another relief.

Anthony Davis showcased another one of his spectacular nights with a double-double and a season-high 41 points. LeBron James took the next place with 22 points, 12 assists (another double-double), and five rebounds. Calling it a thrilling duel would be an understatement.

Evenly matched on both sides on the offensive efficiency (the lack of it also, particularly in the third quarter), it was a nail-biting experience. Heating up going into the third, Toronto’s Immanuel Quickley was landing shots extending their lead to four. With only a minute left, Christie and D’Lo‘s three-pointers had got the Lakers a six-point lead.

But it didn’t last long, as Gary Trent Jr. answered with a 3-pointer of his own, finishing the quarter with a one-point lead. The fourth quarter gave whiplash to anyone watching the game. Trading three-pointers, baskets, and scores, the crowd tonight had a spectacular feast!

Nine seconds left in the fourth quarter and AD was fouled twice. He made all the free throws. But a wild shot from Pascal Siakam cut the Lakers’ lead to one, leaving the Purple & Gold with a one-point win.

One take at a time

“Not only is there more to life than basketball, there’s a lot more to basketball than basketball” - Jackson had a simple philosophy when he was coaching the Lakers. He wanted everyone to succeed and grow in the service of something bigger than themselves. This is what struck me the most.
