The Dallas Mavericks (45-30) will soon be facing off against the Atlanta Hawks (36-40) at the American Airlines Center in Texas. The Suns and the Pelicans are just a few more wins away from pushing the Mavericks down to a spot that would disqualify them for the playoffs. Therefore, the team needs to put their best foot forward during the upcoming matchup. Thanks to an impressive offensive lineup led by star player Luka Doncic, they have managed to win 8 of their last 10 games and established a good momentum against their rivals. The recent revelations from the latest Injury Report, however, may or may not have an impact on their continued success.
A few hours ahead of the game, sports reporter Grant Afseth took to his official X account to share an update from the Mavericks Injury Report. He highlighted that the team’s rookie star Dereck Lively II and shooting guard Josh Green have been “listed as out against the Atlanta Hawks.”

Lively developed his injury during the Mavericks’ recent win against the Houston Rockets. While being on the court for only 13 minutes, the player could not deliver efficiently and only added 2 points to his team’s overall score. He did not return during the second half of the game and was soon ruled out from the next game against the Warriors as well. While his injury was initially listed as a right knee soreness, it was soon updated to a sprain.
According to Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd, the young player could very well be out for the next “two weeks”, missing the remaining games of the regular season. “We’ll take it day by day, but hopefully, he is back sooner than later,” said Kid
Josh Green is set to miss his 9 consecutive game after developing an ankle sprain back in mid-March. The player has been an efficient contributor on the offensive side, having averaged 8.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. However, his performance saw a steep drop in his previous five games, with the player scoring only 2 points on two of the occasions. According to reports, in light of his absence, Green’s minutes will be divided among Derrick Jones, Tim Hardaway, and/or Jaden Hardy, with the hope that they will be utilized efficiently.
Along with the two newest sidelined players, Greg Brown III, who hasn’t played a game since early January, will continue to remain ‘out’ due to ‘personal reasons’. The Atlanta Hawks are yet to release their Injury Report before the matchup. However, given that the team’s power forward Mouhamed Gueye has been absent since October and was absent during the Hawks’ recent game against the Detroit Pistons, the same is expected to take place unless some new developments occur.
How would the Starting Lineup and the Depth Chart look for the Mavericks vs. Hawks clash?
Luka Doncic and his teammates have been moving forward without Josh Green for quite some time now. However, with Dereck Lively II being shifted from ‘questionable’ to ‘out’ status on the Injury Report, power forward P.J. Washington will have to be placed as the secondary center behind Daniel Gafford. Tim Hardaway Jr will be assuming Josh Green’s place as the secondary small forward. As a result of these changes, the starting lineup for the Dallas Mavericks’ upcoming game will look something like this:
