The Minnesota Timberwolves came through as winners against the Pelicans tonight. They were without Zion Williamson for this game. Though Ingram and Co. put up a nasty fight, Karl-Anthony Towns was no match for them. With just 5.2 seconds left in the game, Towns landed a bucket, beating New Orleans at 121-120.
Towns was on fire for tonight’s game, but he did not miss the effort put up by Anthony Edwards. 23 points, four assists, and three rebounds might not have been his best performance, but KAT knows what the young Timberwolf is capable of.

After the game, he was seen hailing the Ant-Man’s hard work with an iconic Mark Jackson line, “Mama there goes that man!”. Often used regarding LeBron James, the former basketball legend’s iconic line was perfect for Anthony Edwards. And that impressive line by Towns exemplified his belief in the NBA All-Star’s skills. Ant’s 2022-2023 playoffs performance had led many to compare him to 3x NBA champion, Dwyane Wade.

Though Edwards still has a long way to go to reach D Wade’s level, we cannot dismiss the comparison. Wade’s elite rim finishes are one of the best the league has ever seen. Anthony, on the other hand, still needs to work on alternating speeds and absorbing and finishing through contact.
But his long-range shooting and nose for getting the shot in have made him quite explosive throughout this season. After all, he is just 22, and ball-handling skills, as well as passing, will improve with time. For now, he is living to the hype of being the future face of the franchise. And Towns finally got a perfect fit alongside him.
“For me, Anthony Edwards is special”: Towns on the Ant-Man
This particular comment came after they won against the Portland Trail Blazers after their All-Star break. Having a promising young player like Edwards beside him meant a lot for the team as well as for himself.

And this happened over the course of six seasons, so it was important for the Edwards-Towns partnership to work. Looking at the 2021 season, KAT has played the best compared to the 20 games previously. He averaged 27.4 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game, and shot 42.4% from 3; an obvious proof of how well they work.
Speaking on the same, Towns said, “For me, Anthony Edwards is special … that’s what I believe wholeheartedly. And I’m going to defend him and his name as long as I can.” Touching for sure, but tonight’s shoutout was another proof of KAT keeping his word.
