Late June 2024 was when the Woj bomb of Mikal Bridges to the Knicks dropped. A massive overhaul of draft picks saw the contending NYC team turn into an exclusive ‘Nova Knicks’. Yup, the Villanova alums Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, Donte DiVincenzo, and now Mikal Bridges came together to form a super squad. Of course, we know how short-lived that turned out to be. But for the length of this article, we are going to imagine the entire gang is still together.
And just to make things easier, we will take the help of GQ Sports. In the latest episode, they have brought the foursome for an engaging and exciting ‘Friendship Quiz’. Just to understand how well these men know each other, of course. When it was Mikal’s turn to test his friends, one question that came revolved around his celebrity crush.
His answer may or may not surprise you, considering the entity must have been (and probably still is) a celebrity crush for many. Hilariously enough, Bridges had to end up giving them a clue after all of them asked him to settle with Sue (likely Sue Bird). Although he said he does have love for Sue, Mikal asked them to “think about like just when I was young.”

Hart and DiVincenzo were throwing out names until, finally, they got it right on the third try. “Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Beyonce,” the pair said. ” There we go,” Bridges acknowledged. A Brooklyn confession, indeed.
If you remember, Jay-Z and his wife, Beyonce, held a minority stake in the Brooklyn Nets from 2003 to 2013. Unfortunately, they had to let go of their share due to other professional commitments.
Why did Jay-Z and Beyonce have to relinquish their stake in the Nets?
The globally renowned rapper owned a small stake in Brooklyn (less than 1%). But thanks to his celebrity status, along with “Queen Bey,” they naturally became the face of the franchise. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that their presence in games further helped put the Nets on the map. After all, they had just moved from New Jersey to Brooklyn. So, they could use all the help they could get.

However, in his pursuit of becoming a sports agent, the 24x Grammy-winning artist was forced to relinquish his stake. “For Roc Nation Sports [agency] to function at its full potential, NBA rules stipulate that I relinquish my ownership in the Brooklyn Nets. It was a tough decision but as I stated earlier, it’s not about ownership,” Jay-Z had said in an interview.
Their first signee was a former Yankees star, Robinson Cano. And if he wanted to sign basketball players, he would have to let go of his position as an owner. Although the 54-year-old left Brooklyn, he vowed to “always be a Brooklyn Net.”
