After a brief stint by Griffin, Doc Rivers, a seasoned NBA commentator and former head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers, has struck an agreement to become the Milwaukee Bucks’ next coach. This decision comes after the Bucks parted ways with Adrian Griffin who was the head coach for just 43 games, and earned the Bucks the second place in the Eastern Conference rankings. But looks like the management was not happy being second and got Rivers on board, expecting him to propel them to championship contention.

According to sources, General Manager Jon Horst had a key role in chasing Rivers, picturing him as the coach who might lead the Bucks to championship success. And due to Rivers’ experience coaching great stars, the Bucks thought he was the perfect candidate to take on the challenge of utilizing the abilities of two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and newly acquired Damian Lillard. However, according to the fans, Doc Rivers is the worst decision the Creme City management could make, and is not happy with it at all. But if not Rivers, then whom should have the Bucks poached for the head coach position?

Coaches who may have fitted better than Doc Rivers

Terry Stotts, who had a brief time with the Bucks before leaving in 2023, could have been a fascinating prospect. He is recognized for his offensive abilities and has a relationship with top player Damian Lillard from their time in Portland. So, reappointing Stotts might provide stability without dramatically changing the team’s dynamics. Another coach who could’ve been a great fit and has guided the Bucks to a title in 2021 is Mike Budenholzer. His experience with star players such as Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and Brook Lopez would have been beneficial for the team’s chemistry.
