NBA All-Star Game: Pat McAfee Thanks NBA Commissioner Adam Silver for Choosing Indianapolis

The NBA All-Star Weekend is just around the corner and Indianapolis is getting herself decked in the best of the best for the event. It seems like Adam Silver has arrived ahead of the break, as well. Probably to check on the progress. But anyway, a certain Indiana native and former Colts player took that chance to get him on board his podcast.

Pat McAfee managed to lure Silver to his ThunderDome for a tête-à-tête. The sports analyst didn’t waste any time in thanking the NBA commissioner for letting Indianapolis host the All-Star Game for the year. “Thank you for making the trip to ThunderDome … thank you for picking Indianapolis for the home of the All-Star!”

This marks the first time that Gainbridge Fieldhouse will host the All-Star. Technically, this is the second time that Indianapolis is the home of an All-Star game, but the last it happened was in 1985 at the Hoosier Dome. So, in a way, this year’s All-Star experience will set the stage for future opportunities.

It not only boosts the popularity of the city but also provides local businesses an opportunity to flourish. As McAfee said, “This is huge for our city, huge for our local businesses.” And he is confident that they are going to “crush it”! While it is up to Indiana to make all the necessary preparations, it is the courtesy of the league to introduce new changes and bring back some old traditions this time around to ensure the NBA All-Star will remain an enticing event.

The NBA All-Star Weekend is as thrilling as it can get

The 73rd All-Star has an array of programs that’s bound to keep the crowd coming. The highlight of the event is the three-point challenge between the 2x 3-point contest winner Stephen Curry and WNBA shootout champion, Sabrina Ionescu. First of its kind in the history of basketball, the crossover between NBA and WNBA will no doubt set the stage for similar events in the future.

While the Slam Dunk Contest had taken a dip in the past years, this year, with the inclusion of Jaylen Brown, the excitement is also at an all-time high. Although McClung is the favorite to win it this year too, JB’s presence promises a thrill like no other. Almost like two apex predators circling each other. The tension in the atmosphere will be sky-high, no doubt!

And then we also have the Celebrity Game that will feature some very interesting names. From Chinese heartthrob Dylan Wang to Canadian-Indian entertainer Lilly Singh, the celebrity list this year has it all. Of course, the All-Star event cannot be one without the top music names of the industry present. A roster full of GRAMMY award winners is on the menu.

Finally, the main event – the All-Star Game. From major snubs to the traditional Eastern vs Western Conference format, Adam Silver has ensured to keep viewers on their toes, expectantly waiting for what’s next. Can’t wait for the weekend to start!
