C.J. Stroud, the Houston Texans quarterback, is gearing up to compete for Team Stephen A. Smith in the Ruffles 2024 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game. Stroud is well-known for his remarkable playmaking in the NFL and is keen to show that his athletic abilities extend beyond football. Stroud has always been confident in his basketball abilities and believes he is capable of excelling on the court. While on the Ohio State Buckeyes football team, he openly challenged the school’s basketball team and claimed that he would defeat them in a friendly battle.

So, now as he has the opportunity to back up his remarks on a national scale, he prepares to battle Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons and other well-known figures in the All-Star celebrity game. However, ahead of the game he again made some bold comparisons of his basketball skills to the likes of Klay Thompson and Paul George.

C.J. Stroud claims his game to be like KT and PG

In an interview with GQ Sports ahead of the prestigious All-Star celebrity game, they asked him about an NBA comparison to his game. replying to that Stroud said, “I’m like a Paul George, Klay Thompson like I can spot up shoot it and I can create off the dribble. I am pretty smooth you know so we’ll see.”

Stroud’s confidence in his basketball ability comes from his high school days when he excelled as a basketball player at Rancho Cucamonga High School. He distinctly remembers a game against future NBA star Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Camarillo High in which he allegedly scored 40 points, including a game-winning jumper from beyond the 3-point line.

His high school highlights also show him as a brilliant and dynamic player, known for his scoring abilities and clutch performances. His basketball career may however have taken a backseat due to football, but his love for the sport remains strong. In casual games with fellow quarterback Bryce Young, Stroud stands out to with his shooting and general court ability. While his career has taken him to NFL success, Stroud’s involvement in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game allows him to reconnect with his first passion and showcase his basketball abilities to a larger audience.
