LeBron has been dealing with an illness for the past few games. It came to light before the Lakers faced the Minnesota Timberwolves on December 30. Many fans also compared it with Michael Jordan’s historic “Flu Game” of the 1997 NBA Finals.

LeBron James’ injury report

According to the latest injury report by the Lakers, LeBron James’ status for Wednesday’s game is questionable. The Lakers superstar is still recovering from an illness he caught last week. If LeBron does not suit up for tomorrow’s game, it will be a big blow for the Lakers. He has been playing at an elite level throughout the season. LeBron is averaging 25.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.4 assists. The Lakers will need all the firepower they can get to win against the reigning Eastern Conference Champions.

If LeBron does not play tomorrow, Anthony Davis and the rest of the roster will need to step up their game. AD has been on a tear recently, playing at an All-Star level. He is averaging 25 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks. AD has been the defensive anchor for the Lakers and made them a Top 10 defensive team in the league.

But the Lakers role players have not stepped up to support their superstars. The Lakers are looking for a third star to take over the scoring responsibility and help them win more games.

Make or Break stretch for the Lakers

It is even more important for LeBron to be available in the coming stretch because the Lakers are heading into a long homestand. The Lakers did not perform too well in December because they had a very hectic schedule. LeBron James and Co. have played more total games (35) than any other team in the league, including the IST final. They have also played the most road games (20) and the most back-to-back games (7) in the entire league. That has led to fatigue and multiple injuries.

However, 10 of the Lakers’ next 15 games will be played in the Crypto.com arena, the Lakers home court. This stretch is an opportunity for them to turn things around and bag a higher seed in the Western Conference. This might very well be a make-or-break stretch for the Los Angeles Lakers.
