After having been away from chaos, the Miami Heat are back in hostile territory. Jimmy Butler will be eligible to return to pay against the Denver Nuggets. The disgruntled wing is expected to take part. However, the silhouette of just how his return will look continues to worry the Heat Nation. Whilst inside the team, there is a strong opposition towards Butler.

The whole saga began during the offseason. Jimmy Butler didn’t land an extension after taking the Heat to two NBA Finals. In addition, Pat Riley publicly dismissing his lack of contributions in the postseason created a rift. It all led to the former Wolves’ star openly claiming his “joy” was bound to last outside Vice City.

In an attempt to reconcile, Riley, Butler, and representatives did have a meeting while the team enjoyed a 3-3 road trip. Those didn’t amount to an encouraging development. And according to ESPN, the sentiments within the organization are that they would rather see Butler offloaded.

“I don’t know how he can come back to this locker room,” a team source said. A second person close to the team was more direct. “We don’t want him back,” the source told ESPN.

It’s improbable to come back from such a situation. Especially, when you consider Jimmy Butler’s past. The veteran has had several standoffs with his past organizations. Generally, they have needed him to move away. In this case, Phoenix seems to be a likely suitor willing to make a move for the 35-year-old.

And they have made some ground on the same.

The Phoenix Suns get help to trade for Jimmy Butler

Being a second-apron team, making mid-season moves isn’t as simple as matching salaries for the Phoenix Suns. There are several restrictions. The most prominent is that they can’t compile assets to match Butler’s $48 million salary for this season. Additionally, there is an obstacle with moving Bradley Beal.

With a no-trade clause in his contract, his acceptance to moves becomes pivotal. However, even if they manage to get that, tempting another team to join looks to be a necessity. Luckily, there is a team itching to be part of the talks. Notably, the Toronto Raptors want in on the action.

Being a young team with an unattractive record, the Raptors seem to be in the process of building a promising core. Years away from competing, they have several exciting contracts on their sheets which they are eager to exchange for a few draft picks. Likewise, with the Jimmy Butler saga allowing for the most return, they don’t want to miss out.

According to The Star, the Raptors are closely following the situation and are willing to be “benefactors” in case a trade is put into place. Their involvement would be critical in matching salaries. As for them, they get the draft capital that they are after. With it looking imminent for Butler to move, their eagerness to get such a deal done could bode well for everyone involved.

What is yet to be discovered is just which team will take a stab at his hefty contract.
